  1. Hey, I've not had much luck with my masterpieces, their paint is usually terrible. So, I'm going to have a go at some repairs for the worst and hoped for some tips: Soundwave - foot scratched up out of the box - what silver would you recommend for touch ups? Also, what blue for the toes? Red Alert - face scratched out of the box - what silver could I use for this? Thanks, Jack
  2. Hi there, I'm trying to find Rodimus Prime Masterpiece Version 2 (Takara version which tried to fix most of the problems) - does anyone know where I can get one? Thanks :D Jack
  3. Hmm, you guys are starting to convince me to get more! :) not good for my wallet - do you know if Soundwave will definitely be able to carry three cassettes?
  4. Right, so I've got Lambor, Soundwave and Rumble and Ravage on order. The masterpieces are just too amazing! I can't justify the repaints really, especially not Frenzy and Buzzsaw. As much as I want Frenzy... Red Alert MP looks good too. Argh :)
  5. Look who arrived today to keep Optimus company (OMG SO EXCITED)
  6. The thing that annoys me most is the quality of the figures in a line. I'm a recent collector starting only a couple of months ago, although I had every Transformer I could as a child and my recent obsession was sparked by a purchase last year. Dark of the Moon Megatron is perfect for the price I paid. However, the FOC wave 1 I just bought leaves a lot to be desired - they're insanely expensive for what they are! Kinda made me wish I'd bought more of the movie figures rather than the game figures even if I prefer the game's world. However, I have paid over the odds for a masterpiece Prime and Grimlock and I am happy. They are perfectly made. It's that value for money that's niggling at me and other people by the sounds of it. I want a quality Transformer above anything else. Yet price is going up and quality is massively going down, except for the overpriced masterpieces. I really wanted to buy a high quality 'entire line' with FOC but I don't think that'll happen now, I'll probably stick to masterpieces.
  7. Thanks. I'm not sure about Superglue because the feet still need to move. I was kinda hoping for a magic 'it won't break, make the screw tighter' response :) maybe I'll have to live with ol floppy feet Optimus! some people use clear nail polish. I've never tried this but i believe just a small coat around the ball joint should add an extra layer on contact on the ball to help keep the joint solid/less loose. google up some youtube vids. Ah, so it's just to make it tighter by adding a layer rather than sticking it solid. That makes sense.

  9. I've seen reference to this problem on some forums but I can't find a fix. My MP10 has fairly loose feet, I don't trust leaving him standing up in certain poses in case he flops forward off the shelf. I've tried tightening the screws but they feel like they're in as tight as they can go - I don't want to break anything - and what I did tighten hasn't seemed to make a difference. Has anyone got any ideas or suggestions for how I can fix this?

    Transformers 4

I can't believe Michael Bay is working on Transformers 4! After he promised he wouldn't. Argh. My bet is that Optimus, now severely damaged and 'done' will play a minor role, maybe a narrating role. I'm then betting that Ultra Magnus and the Dinobots will play a huge role and we'll no doubt get a Galvatron. Hot Rod's got to show up too, knowing Michael Bay's love of speed. As much as love seeing reinventions of existing characters though, I'd love to see some entirely new Transformer characters. A new concept entirely.
  11. FOC Shockwave - a solid, cool figure worth every penny. Looks cool in robot form as well as vehicle 4/5 FOC Jazz - the vehicle and robot look cool at first glance and the transformation is fun. However, neither mode is perfectly finished with big gaps and robot parts showing in the vehicle. Overall this feels very cheap. I paid full price, it should have been at least half that. 2/5 FOC Optimus Prime - again, on the face of it, this could have been great. The robot and vehicle mode are so close to being good but end up being cheap and unfinished. 2/5 Very disappointed :( Shockwave is awesome, the other two I wish I hadn't bought.
  12. I don't suppose anyone knows where I might get a Takara Grimlock MP for a decent price? I would consider Hasbro's but even they're going for over £100 everywhere... I want to grab one before they get too expensive.
  13. So... Against better judgement and recommendations, I couldn't wait and opted for the Takara version - it arrived today! :D I couldn't be happier. Here's it is in all its glory: I've seen hundreds of pictures of MP-10 but it really is awesome in real life. If Optimus Prime is the best toy ever, this is definitely the best version in my humble opinion. I bought it from a seller on Ebay for about $100 less than BBTS. The reasons I opted for Takara are: 1) I genuinely couldn't wait :) 2) I plan on collecting a few MPs, so I liked the idea of collecting the same line 3) colouring, linked to point two I want to get Red Alert, so thought better to opt for all Takara versions, I also prefer the darker blue 4) I really like the idea of collecting the Japanese models and packaging for some reason. All silly reasons I know. A few quality issues I've noticed so far. First of all, the end of the gun flew off as soon I opened the packaging! Clearly Optimus was very excited ;) Nothing a bit of superglue can't fix but I didn't expect that on a £150+ model. A few specks of paint out of place, no biggie. Biggest issue though is the legs in transformation, the buttons on the back press in but I then have to really force the legs in or out. To the point where it feels like I might pull the whole leg off! I'm hoping this will loosen... it doesn't feel like it will though. Finally, the metallic grill on the front is slightly wonky so it doesn't align properly in truck mode :( None of those are deal breakers though, I expect no one has the perfectly crafted toy. One thing I really like are that the eyes are transparent. People had talked of 'dead' looking eyes. They look fantastic to me when light shines on them and I'm glad I don't have the version where they're painted over. All in all, a very high quality, solid, amazing looking figure. Now, to go get that super glue...
  14. Hey Jack. In my book the best MP You can get is the original MP-01 Optimus Prime. If you look him up on Ebay you might be able to find him with his trailer. Thanks, I think it was that one that originally caught my eye. It's a bit confusing for a newbie to the masterpiece series. Is MP-01 diecast? Yes. And heavy. Mp-01 does not come with an empty trailer. Mp-04 does but this version wasn't released in the states. Just solo Optimus sans trailer. There were 2 versions released in the states btw. The difference was in paint apps. I own the first version of the US one and MP-04. The US version of MP-10 will come with a trailer and roller. This is a smaller figure/set than MP-01. Takara is resetting the scale for future releases so they are more in line with each other. OK, thanks so much for all of your help! I think I'm set on the Hasbro MP-10. I love the idea of a die-cast Prime - I wish they were all metal - but I'm not so keen on the vehicle mode of MP-01 with the arms slightly sunken in. Also, the scale is a deciding factor for me as I really want to get Soundwave and other future models.
