Not particularly... :) I just think it's helpful overall to set expectations for everyone. YES, the convention exclusives are a zillion dollars. That's not gonna change. But I really do think it's beneficial to everyone to make the con exclusives unusual or unique characters. People who pay the $$$ for the toys feel like they're getting something different, and people who don't can be like "eh, they're not that important". There's a balance to be struck and I'm hopeful that they've done that this year.

I'm betting this is about Optimus Prime being pulled into an alternate reality where the poor Decepticons are being annihilated by the Evil Autobots.

I watched Star Trek Yesterday - Shattered Mirror.

Don't expect to show all the figures on monday, they will start to show them on monday. In other words they may show one or two and leak the others the coming weeks, just to build up the hype.

Last year, they debuted 1 figure a day for the duration of the week. I'm sure the first one they'll show is Optimus/Nemesis/Reverse/Dark/WTFE Prime. I doubt they're gonna release all the kittens from the gunney sack in one day, though.

As far as the pricing goes, you pay $285/$335 for the figures regardless of if you go or not. If you go with the Primus package, you get full access to all 4 days. IMO you get ripped off on the Iacon (non-attending) set. Basically, you're helping TFCC underwrite the entire convention expense whether or not you're going. While I don't think that's exactly fair, I suppose it's the only way they break even on it.

That's completely friggin rediculous! What's the point of going to these conventions and getting these exclusives if you've got to pay out of the nasal passages for them, anyway!?

when actually go to the convention you don't just pay for the toys, you're paying for access to all sorts of events.

But if you just order the set and don't attend, it's still $350.

anybody can go to the convention, i think it just costs $10 to get in, but i'm sure it's somewhat limited access.

Gen Admission gets you in later, but you can still attend all the same functions on Sat and Sun. You miss out on the tour of the city and dinner Friday.

MY WORLD WILL BE SHATTERED ON MONDAY :eek

heh. yeah, right :roll

Bring on the weak "nemesis" repaints.

lollerz

BUT

I would much rather that BotCon stick with their time-honored tradition of "Bots That Make You Go 'Who?'" than do what happened last year (and to a lesser extent in 2005) when they sold classic G1 characters as con exclusives. The angst is greatly reduced that way. AND to be honest, that's how I think convention exclusives should be done anyway. BotCon toys are gonna be $$$$, it's a given. No sense in complaining about that. But it does cause a problem when characters that the fandom at large would want are only available for said $$$$.

Oh, don't get me wrong here - I totally agree.

Too bad they didn't realize that before last year :tfsad
