I haven't seen him mentioned for some reason, but the first Optimus Prime is actually one of the most flexible G1 figures they ever made. He's got hip, knee, ankle, shoulder, elbow, and wrist articulation, and I've seen ones that could turn their head, though I'm not sure if that's a variant or mod or what.
This is so reaching. Prime was useless from the waist down. Yeah, his knees bent but since his legs can't swing forward at the hip, what's the use. It's like saying that if you lift one of g1 Bumblebee's legs up higher than the other, that's articulation. My vote was going to Galvatron since he's as posable as Energon Galvatron minus the neckhttp://www.seibertron.com/toys/fullsize.ph...1&image=168

Dance Prime, dance!

Since nobody will ever remember figures from after 1986 (nice noting of Slugslinger, Modesty), I would like to remind that Misfire has decent posability, and Hun-Grrr has some of the best legs on a G1 figure, with decent arms and a head. PLUS he has to be the torso of a combiner. Not bad.

Scattershot also had fairly decent articulation.
