That would work for me.

Shame any AWAC vehicle would be too big. I feel like that'd work well for Soundwave.

well, he could be an AWAC vehicle, but he'd never be allowed to land, since then his size would become too much of a disadvantage. Though it'd be interesting to have him flying in the sky, dropping mini-protoform comets with his minions in them.

Then he would just remain on alt-mode for the rest of the movie from beginning to the end....?

Anyway, I do believe F117 suits him the best.

well, he could transform to release his "tapes," and maybe engage in some aerial combat, like taking out AWACS planes, or maybe his monitoring systems function better in robot mode, requiring him to transform.

My thoughts. Having skipped the vast bulk of the topic, apologies if this has already been said somewhere.

Looking a the character of Soundwave: We have Large. Highly Intelligent. Communication Specialist. Manipulative. So... What about a satalite? This isn't my idea but a friend of mine who sugestred it as fitting to Soundwaves role as remote spymaster and monitor of communications. Think about it, as a satalite he could see and hear everything, hack into the internet, read numberplates from orbit, all of that. It could also make a great plot point to have Soundwave remaining in alt mode for the film, all we see is a satalite with a Decepticon symbol on it, giving orders, relaying communications etc. His transformation should be built up to. Corse this could also work with Shockwave to some extant... If not a satalite, than any kinda comms truck would do. :)
