I'm moving house...into an apartment.

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone can enlighten me on something.

You see, my girlfriend and I are planning on moving into a apartment complex, and I was wondering if anyone here can give me some info on how you recieve items that you have bought from online stores and are shipped via USPS and UPS. Do you need to have a P.O. box, or will they notify you when it's ready to be delivered? This may be a silly question, but I really don't know. We have been living in a house (upper flat) for the last year and a half, so everything just gets dropped off at our address. Is there a different procedure when you live in a bigger apartment complex?

If anyone can help me out it would be great. :tfgrin

My stuff just gets left on my doorstep, but my apartment is outside and in a private area, so it's hard to say.

The apartment we are moving to is inside a building with a main door. I don't think it really has a main lobby area, either.

I'd check with your landlord or onsite utility person, you may be able to have packages delivered to their offices for you to pick up when you get home. For stuff that needs signed for my landlady usually takes care of that and holds it for me.

usually, ups will leave a delivery note saying they attempted to drop it off. You may want to call ups to arrange a drop-off time and date, or call them to see if you can pick it up from their area shipping center. be sure to have the tracking number available in any event.

in fact, here's a couple of links for you to make life easier:

hope this helps you out!

UPS doesn't deliver to P.O. Boxes. If you work or are at school and won't be home for deliveries open a mailboxes etc account or have them sent to your parents if you don't live with them.

Got spec questions, fire away. :thumb
