Haven't seen it yet, but I have to ask you guys- how was Weaving's portrayal of Megatron? What did his voice sound like?

I thought it was AWESOME! It didn't sound like Weaving. It sounded like Badass Megatron times a thousand.

saw it tonight, and will see it again probably tomorrow night. Bad-ass is the only thing I can think of.

the most memorable scenes for me were:

1. The scene with jazz and the tank, when he drove up, quickly transformed and pulled the barrel in a different direction (G1 movie reference maybe?)

2. After megatron fell from the roof, he thumped the human.

3. Starscream fighting the jets.

4. Frenzy. period. I love that little guy, he was a mean little bastard. :tflaugh

SO MUCH LOVE

MUCH MUCH LOVE

LOVE

and that's only Frenzy I'm talking about

Hell, if you saw the movie you don't need me to explain it to you. It was everything great about Transformers, presented with contagious enthusiasm and a complete embracing of what Transformers is. No self-conscious "yeah we know it's lame but let's make a joke about it to pre-empt criticism" stuff here. No, sir. Autobots and Decepticons and OMFG transformations and HOLY SH*T DID YOU JUST SEE THAT and audience cheering all over the place and genuinely funny stuff going on and just... wow. Really great.

Haters: you may now commence the polishing of my rock-hard knob.

I loved it. It was a lot of fun.

Frenzy sounded like a Jawa. Ironhide's "I wanna shoot something" attitude was hilarious. Jazz was true to his G1 form.

Other than Prime, they seemed to give Ratchet a lot of the lines.

But what happened to Barricade?

They never showed what happened to him. I thought I missed it, but my friends said they didn't notice him getting killed either.

We only assume he was destroyed.

And Scorponok too, where did he go?

Just saw it. Loved it.

Positives:

-Loved Hugo Weaving as Megatron. I've heard Welker's voice for the game, and I can honestly say that it really didn't do anything for me on this kind of level. Weaving was the PERFECT choice. It gave me chills. His one exchange with Starscream was pure awesome. Wanted more.

-Peter Cullen IS Optimus Prime. He is to Transformers what James Earl Jones is to Star Wars.

-All of the voice actors did a top notch job. Barricade was f*cking scary. Even in his alt. mode. Ironhide was done VERY VERY VERY well.

-Bumblebee. Love him. I was getting some serious tears when Sector Seven took him down, and when basically anything bad happened to him. I was totally with Ironhide when he was pushing for a rescue operation.

-The Decepticons. Finally, we get the Decepticons we have always wanted. Ones that are true threats.

-Shia LaBeouf was fantastic. So much more than I came in expecting.

-Most of the humorous bits.

Now for the not so positive part:

-Megan Fox. Seriously. She just wasn't that good. The rest of the cast was able to pull off some of the cheesiest dialogue, but she couldn't.

-The "Squirt" scene. I can accept the cheesy moments, and I know this was supposed to be funny...but that was totally uneccessary. By the time they got to that scene, they had already fully established the awkwardness/sexual tension between the two. It was like using a blowtorch to kill a fly. Too over the top. I seriously felt like I was watching porn. You could have cut 90% of that scene and it would have had absolutely no impact on the rest of the story. Completely pointless.

-It bugs me how Mikaela had like....no wounds whatsoever. Not a scratch. Yeah, her clothes were dirty and her hair wasn't perfect, but come on. Not a single scratch? She was in most of the same situations as Sam, and he looked like he had gone through the ringer. They could have at least given her a couple scratches on her face or something.

-Not enough scenes with the Transformers. My finacee was actually the first one who mentioned it BTW. Don't get me wrong - they came across very well with the time they got, but there were times where the movie kind of lagged, mainly due to the humans jabbering about something or other. I would have loved to have seen more screentime of Megatron and Starscream, and a more climactic final battle between Prime and Megs.

-Could have done without the Linkin Park song during Prime's speech at the end. The score would have been much much better. Fortunately, Cullen is so great that the song doesn't ruin it.

Bottom line:

Even with the screentime somewhat limited, the Autobots and Decepticons totally stole the show and Cullen and Weaving shine. Wanted a little more action and less "ZOMG LETS DROOL OVER MEGAN FOX".

However, like I said at the beginning - I loved it. The gripes are minor.

Loved it.

But here are my complaints:

1.) Barricade - he totally disappeared from the final battle. It was like he saw Prime and Bonecrusher fight and then took the next exit off the highway and ran away. He just friggin' disappeared - very, very disappointing.

2.) While I enjoyed the fights, I'm sorry, but I did not like a lot of the shots that were very close in, where you just see blobs doing something behind humans. Barricade vs. Bumblebee was particularly diappointing to me. But the worst one for me personally, was Ironhide doing cool acrobatic fighting and yet they stuck a hot chick screaming to take up most of the screen. Sorry, but that just annoyed me.

3.) Some of the humans annoyed the crap outta me.

Stuff I Loved:

1.) The Autobots were so awesome in every way. Their characters were handled so well. Ironhide and Ratchet reminded me of brothers, the way they reacted to each other. All the Autobots were just so awesome. I can't praise them enough at all.

2.) Megatron rocked. Frenzy rocked. All the Decepticons were cool, even if they didn't do much.

3.) The Voices were fantastic! I loved each one of them!

4.) Prime vs. Bonecrusher was friggin' awesome. I was like "holy Blot!" when Prime punched BC and BC's eye popped out!

5.) Autobots vs. Devastator/Brawl was so kickass - teamwork was so good there.

6-and beyond) - So much was so awesome in this movie! I can't name it all.

Man that movie had some insane fight scene. :07laugh Prime was no joke in the movie he straight up took care of business not worrying about giving chances or not killing. Frenzy was one crazy m**** f**ker :07dance XD. Jazz was truly a brotha (it's ashame he wast taken out that way.he been one of favorite since G1). G1 Bumblebee would have been proud of his movie counterpart :07redface :tftongue. It seem to have taken all the Autobots and Humans to take down Blackout and Brawl (oddly named Devastor). Megatron is the devil in metal skin :07evil

I saw it tonight. It was really good but I wish I abstained from the commercials because they showed almost every cool shot in the movie. I think for me this movie was a lot like the first X-Men: a good movie that lays the foundations for a better one.

My complaints:

1. Frenzy: He was fine in tiny doses, but he ended up getting more screentime than the rest of the cons combined. And his scenes tied into..

2. The hackers: The movie would have been a lot better and more focused without this subplot. whenever the hackers were on screen I was just really wishing I was watching something else. They didn't really add much of anything.

2. The Cons: They were all cool, but they had no personalities and were dispatched far too fast.

3. Needed more Jazz. A lot more.

What I loved:

1. the Autobots: I thought they were the opposite of the Decepticons characterwise. They felt much more fleshed out and I loved the scenes of just them talking and just hanging out.

2. Jazz's entrance: What's crackin, Protectobots?

3. Sam: I actually enjoyed his subplot a lot. He was funny and really made the movie work.

I would give it a 7 or 7.5 out of 10. I can't wait to see it again, even though I had some issues. A much better movie than I ever thought Transformers would get.

I agree with you. I really, really enjoyed the film. It was far better than I had originally hoped for, and a fine way to begin what I hope is a long and glorious movie franchise. However, there were several moments like you speak of above. For example, when Bumblebee is captured, Prime disappears for several minutes. What was that all about? Also, in the last battle, I'd like to have seen more multi-bot shots, so it seems like one chaotic mess of a fight rather than autobot vs decepticon, different autobot vs decepticon, repeat, repeat, etc. Maybe if Barricade had been tossed around in the background during another of the fights, for example.

Also, though the movie designs worked well for the movie, they are so detailed and busy that it is hard to keep track of what is what on those closeups you mentioned. During the BB vs. Barricade fight, in particular, it was hard to tell where one bot ended and the other began, save for BB's yellow bits. Even when Megs and Jazz were fighting it was difficult, as they are so close in color.

All in all though, minor quibbles. A+ from me, my kids, and my wife, and judging from the applause, 90% of the theater!
