THE OFFICIAL TRANSFORMERS MOVIE DISCUSSION THREAD

Basically the point of this thread is to let people talk about the movie without needing to spoiler tag everything, and without people Starscreaming somebody hasn't used spoiler tags.

I saw it today, and I can't honestly review a movie that has giant robots that turn into other things fighting other giant robots that turn into other things and also has a hot chick, but my gf liked it so that says a lot.

The scene with Sam searching his room and the Autobots hiding from his parents was my favourite. :07laugh

Yeah - I was supposed to write a review after the screening on Wed and i was just dumbfounded. It was like my system went into pure shock after being exposed to such unrelenting AWESOME!

but yeah the room scene was hillarious.

It was a bit difficult for me to get used to the way the autobots acted and moved - they were so sassy and inconsiderate and acrobatic.

Jazz seriously looked like a ninja turtle to me.

Another thing - I don't think any other series has explored TFs as "last inhabitants of their destroyed homeworld" (correct me if i am wrong) but Optimus's final shout out to any autobots roaming the far reaches of space was kinda a kick in the nads for me. And made get a little weepy.(conceptually)

First time BB transformed, I cried. Not bawling or anything but just so emotional (I felt the same thing when Peter Learned to websling in Spidy 1) I teared up.

I couldn't stop my legs from shaking durning the Blackout attack. The sheer ferocity of those explosions cause by Blackout's Plasma Cannon. And that Decepticon Music Theme

Frenzy, is one of my favourites, flipping off the airforce base personal and behaving like a jerk.

The Humans where great, the Analysts being the least fun, but most people from Aussie and N.Z recognise Racheal Tayor from McLeod's Daughters. I think the Witwicky Family interaction was fantastic, especially the Mother "You hurt my dog, I'll kick your ass"

The Autobots and Cons where flawless in their appearence and actions.

And when Ironhide Yells out: "Its StarScream!" I got shivers.

This movie is too much awesome

I wish the REAL GEARS looked like the bots in the movie - that cell phone dude rocked! But the Real gear thing looks cheesy.

I also kinda want a mountain dew Vending machine and a stop light (come on cybertron dude!)

Well they are expanding the movie line into 2008, as mentioned on the Botcon Hasbro tour (that sweet Osprey!)

If they do a Deluxe Mountain Dew Bot with Drink Can Cannon, consider it bought, plus he'd have 4 arms:D

And Nokia-Bot needs to be made, with flip a down from behind the number buttons crotch gatling cannon, (you've got to respect the Japanese, they respect the way of teh Samurai :07laugh :07laugh :07laugh )

nokia is made in finland :lol

Keller: "Yes, but you know... he's, odd."

oh and Right Click and save as for the MP3 of the Decpeticon Theme from the movie's score

Hugo's voice and ILM's effects etc, made me Buy Leader Megatron. Got to have him, he is just so well done in the film.

oha nd the interaction between Ratchet and Ironhide in the various scenes was cool, they bicker in the background with each other (see the backyard scene for a few examples) but when it comes to fightin the Decepticons, they are all professional and on the same page.

I got to see a sneek preview two nights ago and as .. a removed fan I got pulled right back into my childhood. I'm only 23 now but the last time I REALLY followed transformers and had it's toys was when the originals were still on TV. That said from the very beginning when prime is laying out the situation I felt like I was 8 years old again.

Then...blackout transformed and we got the old school traditional sound associating it. I had to clap and once I did the entire theatre behind and in front of me broke out into applause. I've NEVER been in a theatre as animated or loud as this one. When barricade was chaseing bumblebee, that seemless transition from bot to police car was ANOTHER moment of huge applause and of course the first time we see prime in truck form. I'm getting goosebumps thinking about it. This movie was so amazing, it was, for me, a child's fantasy movie come true.

I loved the human nature that was given to bumblebee, it may not be the same bug we all know in form but in personality it's the same character. I, honestly, had never been a huge fan of him from the cartoons but I LOVED his movie incarnation. I would have to say my favorite part of the movie is when the bots are hiding outside sam's home and they mention how annoying the rents are, asking prime if he could blast them. Only to be retorted with a "what's wrong with you."

I could go on for...hours...I LOVED this movie and it has easily become my favorite of all time. The only movie to replace topgun in...15 or so years on my list.

I really didn't expect Frenzy to end up being the con's comic relief, having avoided all spoilers I assumed he'd show up once and have his arse handed to him. Having him turn into a mobile head phone was teh funnie.

Man... I want to talk about everything in this movie, but everything I type is along the lines of "and then something awesome happened, and then this thing was really funny, and OMG this was cool" fanboyness.

Also, having the allspark more akin to the G1 comics Creation Matrix was a good move, storywise, in my opinion.

    • EDIT 2: Okay, I think my real problem with this was the marketing image. The main image shows four robot turtles standing together, so I was ready for four toys, not one. Admittedly, I was so disappointed that I did not bother to read the article fully. That's my fault. I apologize. That said, now that I understand it is THE van that turns into a robot, not "robot versions of the four turtles," that makes more sense, but I don't get the four heads. There are images here of a bandana free head which I gather is not included. I would actually prefer a non-specific generic turtle head for the robot. I think that would remove a lot of confusion. At least for me. EDIT 1: My bad, I misunderstood. It's one toy with swappable heads. So, you made a thing based on a four member team, and you only want to sell one toy? You're not even trying to get people to "Collect all FOUR!" You do understand how toy sales work, right? Original Comment: This is a perfectly fine idea executed TERRIBLY. You made four unique toys, each specific to each of the Ninja Turtles, that all turn into the same vehicle? It would be one thing if they joined together to form the van. There have been transformer sets like that before. This is just wasted opportunity. Not to mention, that van exists for the turtles to ride in together as a team, so if they can turn into vehicles ... what do they need a van for? I get that that's their van, and that's cute and all, but ... this is just dumb and disappointing. Why not think about what kind of car each of them would drive based on their personalities, or ask some car company if they want to do a tie-in promotional? What do I want with four copies of the same van and no one to ride in any of them? It makes no sense.
