[WIP] Bumble Bee Prime

Somewhere in an alternate universe, Hot Rod made a fatal mistake. His last words before plummetting to his death were "Wrong, Kup, they're our way in!"

Bumble Bee was in the right place at the right time. He opened the Matrix as it hung chained to Galvatron's shoulders, lighting their darkest hour. He heard Optimus Prime's voice boom from within the Matrix: "Arise, Bumble Bee Prime!"

The Reformat washed over his body and when it was complete, he was still half the size of everybody else.

I started with Armorhide and a $3 die-cast VW microbus I picked up at Walmart. (The same company also makes a 1:24-sized bus so in the future I may use this as a model for an Alt BBP.) All the parts are cut and roughly in place. I need to fashion a couple minor parts (horns, backs/insides of the legs, maybe larger G1 Ultra Magnus-style shoulders), paint, and assemble. I'll probably cram a battery and a couple LEDs behind the headlights. The transformation sequence will be mostly like Armorhide for the arms/head/chest. The lower torso swings just over 180 degrees back. The back end of the bus will either peg on to his back, onto an arm as a shield, or both. Probably just the back.

If I can find two similarly-sized minivans (VW Vanagon maybe) and some more Armorhides, I might do a similar Ratchet and Ironhide set.

How'd you cut up the bus?

OPiJ got it right: dremel with 1 1/2" metal cutting tool. It almost fits back together, too! ::grumbles::

I've come across a couple design problems since taking the picture but I think it'll still come together well enough.

I'm hoping to make up the small differences with plastic, but I bought the wrong glue so I couldn't get to that step tonight.

My back-up plan is to buy two for the next model, and cut on opposite sides of the dotted line, so one side of each model is exactly half the size of the original, and I can combine those two. I'm just OCD enough to do it if I can't find a smarter solution.

I want to make a second one, anyway, because the torso I built out of Armorhide's grill is a little slapdash.
