Soundwave's stickers

Terrorcon Blot

The red and black stickers.

  1. 1. G1 Soundwave has two stickers on his sheet, red and black trapezoid shaped ones. Where do you think they go?

    • They're battery caps! They go on his gun and shoudler cannon, by the positive end of the battery!

    • They're speakers! You put them on his legs, on either side of the tape door!

I have never seen pics of those stickers on the legs. I have both my reissues with the stickers on the weapons/batteries. Twas that way even as a child...

1984 catalog has them on his legs.

I vote for placing them on his guns/batteries.

Huh. No $#!+. Well I'll be jiggered, never recalled seeing that before.

How funny is this thread...

I finally picked up reissue soundwave from TRU on Tuesday, and I came accross this very thing when I applied the stickers.

My original soundwave from the 80's had them on the front of the tape deck, like speakers. The stickers were already applied back in '84, before I even got him from a friend in '86. I always assumed that the stickers were SUPPOSED to be there. :tfhuh

The re-issue has a pic of them on the battery cases. Seeing as though there were no instructions for applying the decals, I went with the battery cases, and I am glad I did. They look better there, IMO.

I even asked a fellow collector (not a member of the forums) and he wasn't sure where they went.

A real mystery, indeed. :clap

I didn't apply any of the extra stickers myself, but on my old g1 SW, the stickers are speakers. Or at least, that's what I always figured they were. Hah.

I must say that I'm more than a bit disappointed in the reissue SW I bought -- I ordered from TRU online, because I will NEVER find it where I live... and when it arrived, I discovered that (at least on my figure) the plastic feels very cheap compared to the G1; laserbeak and ravage are so poorly molded they won't even close into tape mode properly. The factory stickers were all haphazardly slapped on there, some of them were crooked, with air bubbles underneath. It's really a little upsetting and disappointing. The quality is so poor that I decided to just leave him in the box on the shelf. At least that way I don't have to look at him.

Seriously, Soundwave was not only my FIRST TF, he was my favorite, and I've been looking forward to this reissue for years. I don't think I'm being overly scrupulous out of favoritism -- there are factory-applied stickers still on my g1 figure that are straighter and in better condition than the ones applied to the reissue I just bought. If there was any way in hell, I would have returned him and hoped I got a better one in exchange. I've seriously considered stripping off the stickers myself and applying a set from reprolabels -- that's how awful they are.

Anyone else had any issues like this with their Reissue SW?
