Classics Magnus

And here I'm sitting figuring out where to start with Thundercracker and Sunstorm repaints of Classics Starscream...

Love that armor, Tramp. Regardless of looking a bit "funky," I could never do anything like that, and the trailer mode is close to perfect. Well done.

Are you asking about my Armored mode head, or Magnus' original one? The helmet for my Magnus armor fits over the original, if that is what you're asking. Shajaki, if you want red optics but want to keep the light piping, simply remove the light piping piece and paint it clear red. The result will be a deep crimson.

The original head is attached by a flat-headed pin. The only way to remove it is to heat the pin with a soldering iron until the plastic around it starts to soften, then pull it off. You would need to disassemble everythign around it first.

Why would you want to remove it anyway?

All you need to do in that case is unscrew the screw in the back of the head and remove the light iping piece. That isn't a permanant part of the head. Once the screw is removed it pops right out with a little effort.

If you use a fine enough brush, you shouldn't have a problem. I was able to paint the mouth plate on mine without any trouble using a 10/0 fine detail brush without removing the head. The crest was a little more difficult, but I managed. You aren't likely to get paint on the rest of the model unless you plan on painting under the chin, which really isn't necessary.
