What TF had the worst death?

Energon Mirage, he committed suicide because his crush did, sence when was Transformers, Homosexual Romeo and Juliet?

:pfx x1000

Wait wait wait. It's been a while since I've watched Energon. WTF are you guys talking about. Tidalwave or Mirage?

Mirage, he was gay for Galvatron.

This must have been in the Japanese story right?

No, this was the American cartoon. Galvatron flies directly into the sun to stop Unicron from controlling his body. Great. Then, Mirage (the updated form of Tidal Wave), decides to randomly follow Galvatron into the sun and dies as well. Throughout the series, Mirage basically just did whatever he was told. I guess not having a leader was just too much.

You forgot the part where pink hearts materialized over Mirages head whenever he saw Galvatron

Ultra Magnus' death in the Headmasters cartoon was really stupid - not really because it was "pointless" - I don't mind indiscriminate random deaths, as Furman pointed out, it is a realistic nature of war - but the way he died was really lame.

Ultra Magnus stands there, allows Sixshot to shoot him, falls down, then gets up again and just stands there giving Sixshot time to transform and shoot him again. Ultra Magnus keeps doing this until Sixshot has transformed and shot Ultra Magnus in all of his modes! He made no attempt to fight back, evade or even plain run away or surrender. Nope. He just stood there and copped all of Sixshot's blasts.

Magnus' death was meant to highlight Sixshot's skills as a ninja warrior. WHAT SKILLS? You defeated an opponent who didn't fight back!! Gah!!

Yes!! That death left me scratching my head. Those dam writers took a good warroir and just let him get blasted. They could have used Cosmos for that, the G1 writers did.

How about Roadbuster in Time Wars (Marvel UK)?

Uses an experimental powerful cannon and shoots galvatron severly damaging his face, and the the cannon explodes killing Roadbuster. He could've thrown the cannon away.

Good point.

Or thrown it at Galvatron. A lot of deaths were lame and/or senseless. But they are at war so that is to be expected.

Do not even get me started on the G2 comics. Nightbeat blew himself up (along with Dirge) moments before a cure against the swarm was delivered.

Again, I don't dislike the deaths of Roadbuster and Nightbeat (as well as Misfire and some other TFs) as far as story telling goes because as Furman argues, it illustrates the reality of war (i.e.: people die, not just guys who don't care about!)

Roadbuster and Misfire's deaths illustrate the reality of technological warfare - any military technology can fail, and sometimes with lethal results. For example, the Australian Navy had a terrible tragedy last year when a Blackhawk helicopter malfunctioned and crashed into the sea near Fiji. They were not shot down by enemy or friendly fire, it was an aviation disaster as a result of technological malfunction.

Nightbeat and Dirge's deaths again illustrate another reality of warfare -- that sometimes when hopelessly overwhelmed by the enemy, some people will heroically sacrifice themselves in an attempt to thwart the enemy; or sometimes simply as an act of defiance.

That was Thad that said that but I agree.

I said their deaths were senseless which is true because all war is essential senseless. But it did make the comic very realistic which is a feat I liked. In a war a lot of the soldiers do not make it back alive.

The problem is of course that when characters die and your favorite is among them then that does suck. Furman should have introduced Wheelie in G2 and let him die.

The death of Galvatron in Headmasters was the most ridicilous piece of writing I had EVER seen in ANY TF cartoon. First of all, Galvatron survived being in a lava pit (after TF the movie) and he survived the destruction of Cybertron. And then he is simply frozen in a block of ice.

Cyclonus and Scourge do not even attempt to retrieve him. WORST death ever! :tdown

But the Japanese needed to get rid of a lot of the older characters and did so in the most pathetic ways possible. Ultra Magnus was just destroyed, Rodimus Prime, Kup and Blurr just left and Galvatron was just frozen in ice. Is it any wonder I do not like the latter half of Headmasters?

    • Grahf, you made excellent points, and I got a chuckle at how you ended. Hasbro has been sending me, "hey, where have you been?" Spam-mail lately, and to tell you the truth, I have bought very little tf's from Pulse or anywhere else in 2024, which had already seen a steady decline year after year for several years now. It's not financial constraints, though I think my wife is happier to see a spending reduction. The real reason for me is exemplified by these latest Hascon "reveals." I'm not interested in any of these and until Hasbro gets it's act together, I won't be buying anything more from them, and I used to spend at least a thousand a year or more per year for the past decade or so. You can't tell Mr that Hasbro can't use "Selects" to give us some obscure characters like Dogfight, Horri-bull, or Backstreet, just to name a few, at least one a quarter. Going back to my wife, she said to me recently, "wow, you hardly bought any Transformers this year!" Her saying that really got me thinking and I got frustrated me about Hasbro's lack of direction. They may find that when you alienate your customers for too long, they might not ever come back. I've lost hope that we'll see an updated Outback, Windcharger, Tailgate,  or Powerglide,  again, just to name a few, and that's poor product planning and execution. I can deal with a lot of things, like poor qc, but just ignoring fans and then insuling them with tf "reveals" like what we just got, yeah, I'll keep laughing and deleting your emails begging me yo come back...for now. You better right the ship, Hasbro, cause I'm guessing if I feel this way, so do many others, too.
