Classics Prime, Magnus and Skywarp...

For a good long while, my default Prime has been RID Prime...actually Fire Convoy, since I imported him during Beast Machines when I was being a whiny fanboy...but anyway...because of that, not buying a Prime doesn't seem weird to me at all.

I did buy Armada and Energon Prime...but wasn't willing to let the A/E/C trilogy strike me a third time, so I passed up all of the Cybertron leader figs, despite the rave reviews.

I'll be happy to pick up Classics Prime and finally retire ol' Firebritches.

Course I'll pick Magnus up to get Skywarp...but I'll probably still use God Magnus as my Autobot City Commander. :redface

Wait...you got Armada and Energon Optimus Prime and NOT Cybertron Optimus Prime?

Wait...you own ANY of them?

if satanstorm is telling you you should own a prime, you should take it as a sign. best primes ever: g1, mp, laser, rid, gf. well lets just say all of them are good except for fatty and superpants.

Frankly I really don' care if I have 2 Primes on my shelf... screw time-space or whatever. You could even get another shelf. XD I actually have GF on one and RID on another.

I just hate the idea of having a Magnus repaint tis all. A nemisis repaint would be cool though

screw nemesis/scourge/black convoy repaints all together. and magnus white cabs. if they ever repaint a prime, it should be fireguts.

Well, after reviewing my shelf space I've decided to NOT buy Classics Optimus Prime...

Yes, he is awesome! And a great looking Prime... But I am Soooooo happy with my Galaxy Convoy.

I've had him for a while, now and he really is THE Prime of my TF shelf.

I cant replace him with Classics Prime...

And theres NO WAY I'm going to have 2 Optimus Primes on my shelf... Aaahh! Time crash!

So I've come to a (reluctant) conclusion. Buy the Ultra Magnus 2 pack!

I want to support the NEW molds. It really is nice.

And I could use an Ultra Magnus on my shelf... Next to Galaxy Convoy...

Now what about Skywarp? I think to save money I will NOT buy Classics Starscream.

I am Sooo happy with my Galaxy Force Starscream... See a pattern forming???

So, I will buy the repaints of these figures instead of the originals... For once.

Sounds wierd (I cant believe Im actually NOT buying Prime) but logical...

Just wanted to share my thoughts.

Any of you thinking anything similar???

Good for you for not buying another Optimus Prime, but buy both Skywarp and Starscream - they're both distinctive characters.

I've decided I will be buying Classics prime despite owning 10 or so others. I will aiso be glad to retire Cybertron Prime in exchange for Classics prime. Cybertron Prime is a good mold but way overated IMO. He's basically a Powerglideing Gundum and takes up about the same amount of space. Personally i am really excited for this prime. For the first time since ever Prime's first mold in a line isn't gigantic, has a trailer/lame ass combining gimick and for that reason doesn't cost a bundle. Articulation also looks better than that of any Prime since G2 Laser Prime. MP prime doesn't count.

The way I look at it I can walk into a store and buy them all without spending what I would on only a handful of Cybertron toy and if that's not reason enough I can pose/display them all on one shelf. :thumb

YES THANK YOU :pfx :pfx :pfx

*ahem* anyway, yeah I'm not as stoked about Classics as I would have been a few years ago. I remember the rumors about "G1 characters redone w/ modern toy design" and at the time I was all ZOMG and stuff about the idea. But now I find that it's not as exciting as I'd imagined. Part of it is that I don't feel like I'd be getting anything special if I were to buy Classics Prime (one of the intended centerpieces of the line, no doubt). There have been so many Optimus Prime toys -- really good ones, too -- that Classics Prime doesn't really stand out to me. Now Megatron, he does stand out. Unfortunately, he also stands out b/c of his ass-ugly color scheme. Green and purple are traditional Megatron colors overall, but for G1 they sure aren't.

The ones I'm most interested in are Grimlock, Jetfire, Ramjet, and Bumblebee. The first three b/c I had the originals as a kid; Bumblebee because I really have a feeling that he'll look totally kickass with my Alternators.

Now all they need to do is make Classics Stunticons.

Now.

I plan to skip the whole lot of them, along with the vs. pack, Megatron, and Starscream. Despite the premise, I find myself less and less enamored with the Classics the more I see of them. The only one I'm REALLY excited for is Skyfire. Bumblebee and Hot Rod I'll probably pick up, and maybe Grimlock, but that's about it for now. The cone-head mold looks interesting, and I could go for a Astrotrain-colored Astrotrain, but both of those things are pretty up in the air at the moment.

I agree, I'm just not jazzed for these figures. The classics are cool, and I can see why even adult collectors are into then, with Alts, BT/Kiss, MP and THS, I just don't have any interest. This is how I feel about the Starwars TFs too, cool on a level and defiantely targeted at collectors as much as kids, but they just don't compare to the other lines.

If I only bought US tf's I might feel differently, I don't know. I will say that Grimlock is my favorite classic and i could almost see buying him. He is in may ways as good as the original if not better (although standing on your own mouth is a little wierd...).

Same here.

I won't buy a single figure from wave 1.

The Magnus repaint looks interesting (mostly since I don't have a Magnus colored that way) so I'd like to have that one.

Of wave 2 I'm probably going to get Grimlock (for kitbashing) and Jetfire (because I was planning to make one myself from E PL Megatron and now I won't have to).

Most of this line will be a HUGE pass for me.

(But truth be told, my interest in TF's beyond kitbashing, MP's and alts, is plummeting so fast that it will probably register on the Richter scale when it hits bottom.)

I'm up for some of these...but I'm pretty sure I'll pass on a lot. I just wish Titaniums were, like $10. I'd buy all of those.

Going to get these for sure but I get all the new molds.

Sorry but I do not see how people can pass up on these. I mean classic figures in new forms, what is to pass up?

I really like these designs but I keep comparing Starscream to his Robot Masters counterpart. That one was plain awesome. Classics Starscreams missile launchers are a bit too big.

    • EDIT 2: Okay, I think my real problem with this was the marketing image. The main image shows four robot turtles standing together, so I was ready for four toys, not one. Admittedly, I was so disappointed that I did not bother to read the article fully. That's my fault. I apologize. That said, now that I understand it is THE van that turns into a robot, not "robot versions of the four turtles," that makes more sense, but I don't get the four heads. There are images here of a bandana free head which I gather is not included. I would actually prefer a non-specific generic turtle head for the robot. I think that would remove a lot of confusion. At least for me. EDIT 1: My bad, I misunderstood. It's one toy with swappable heads. So, you made a thing based on a four member team, and you only want to sell one toy? You're not even trying to get people to "Collect all FOUR!" You do understand how toy sales work, right? Original Comment: This is a perfectly fine idea executed TERRIBLY. You made four unique toys, each specific to each of the Ninja Turtles, that all turn into the same vehicle? It would be one thing if they joined together to form the van. There have been transformer sets like that before. This is just wasted opportunity. Not to mention, that van exists for the turtles to ride in together as a team, so if they can turn into vehicles ... what do they need a van for? I get that that's their van, and that's cute and all, but ... this is just dumb and disappointing. Why not think about what kind of car each of them would drive based on their personalities, or ask some car company if they want to do a tie-in promotional? What do I want with four copies of the same van and no one to ride in any of them? It makes no sense.
