Megatron's Duckie

I do have to say one thing for the Beast Wars series... even though the same voice actors are involved as with the more recent ones, the voices, storyline, and series overall seemed to just 'fit' together for some reason in Beast Wars. It's more enjoyable for me to watch than the Armada, Energon, Cybertron shows in my opinion. Even my wife likes to watch it... (She likes Blackarachnia's sassyness) :tftongue

Maybe that it had refreshing ideas, great graphics, funny characters (and development of each), I dunno.... I can't really put my finger on it - but it seems less forced to me than the other series. Could it be that the writers just wrote a series, and not 30 minute toy commercials? Someone help me out here..... :wtf

(And this is coming from a G1 purist, OPTIMUS TRUCKK NOT MUNKEY believer, and Cybertron toy lover too.)

BW was a success because it was written by North Americans as a series, with multi-season arcs planned out in advance after the initial offering by Mainframe was deemed a success and given the go ahead by Fox. A/E/C, and even RID, were written by Japanese in typical japanese fashion, which is make every series a self-contained story, run it into the ground for an entire season, and then completely reset/reinvent it for the next season, etc. It's been mentioned before they do this because the trends & fads move through so quickly in Japan, so everything is basically a one-off to try and hold attention for that season only, because they don't expect/plan for a series to continue. The problem there was over here in the US they took those self-contained series, and tried to make them one continuous storyline, which is why pretty much all american dub anime seems so bad alot of the time (nevermind the overuse of the same voice actors who use the same character voices EVERY time no matter what series they're in).

It will definitely be interesting to see what the post-movie TF series will be like, as I expect Hasbro will have initial control over the writing & direction of the series. Sure, I expect it to be very campy, but the storylines will likely be written over here first and then sent over to Japan and/or Korea to be animated, pretty much like most of the original G1 series, but more continuity minded.

Megatron's rubber duckie was one of the many reasons why Beast Wars rocked.

A shame we never saw it in Beast Machines. I guess Megatron felt it was no longer appropriate to play with it since he did turn himself into a "god". :tftongue

actually, that could very well explain his complete personality switch & psycho self in Beast Machines.... it was all because he lost his duckie!

Micron Legend and Superlink arn't self contained.

But I do agree w/ bigds9fan, little things like the rubber duckie are the reasons that BW kicked ass.

Micron Legend and Superlink are in fact connected, like Armada and Energon are. Galaxy Force is the seperate one.
