Head:

 

What do you guys thing of the size of the head? Seems a tad too big?

I don`t think the head is too big. I think maybe the the styrene that makes up the general shape of the head surrounding his yellow eye should be thicker. Making the inside circumference a little tighter. Take a look at Alt shocky or a pic of G1 Shocky. The pieces that make up the head surrounding the eye are pretty thick and seem to flow better with the rest of the body. Yours look almost too thin. Plus, I think Shockwave has a hexagon shape(6 sides) as opposed to an octogon shaped(8 sides) head. No offense though. I just hope this overly analitical-ness helps. :thumb

No offense taken. Crits, particularly constructive ones (as yours is) helps me to improve my customs. I definitely see your point and will use thicker styrene but will probably make the head smaller too.

Looking at the original image, and your WIP, specificaly his "Hand blaster" in the WW design is not-so-G1 more... bulky , more Armed. Do you plan on modifing it or leaving as is.

I think I know what you're refering to. There's actually another piece right under the gun. Is that what your refering to? Yes, I plan to add that piece. Other than that though, I don't plan to modify the actual gun itself because of the light. By adding pieces around the gun or making a brand new gun from scratch, I would lose the translucent effect and thus it won't light up if I activate the LED. I can probably make a gun to resemble that of the War Within design, mold it, then cast it in translucent resin but that's a bit too much work for me.

I'm not sure. I wanted to do Ironhide perhaps eventually I would but my next one probably would be Sentinel Prime. And actually after seeing the Hearts of Steel designs I am thinking of the Optimus Prime. More than likely though I'm going to try Sentinel Prime.

Whoa, coming along VERY nice. Now the head IS a bit bigger then the concept design, but you know what? It looks PERFECT proportion wise to the rest of the body. I do agree with WarMachine in that the edges around his "eye" could be thickened up a bit, but as far as the number of sides go, the concept design does form an octogon, so Ide say its all on taste. Looks great with eight sides, and it just be easier on you making these existing sides thicker then converting them to six. Thats completely up to you. Awsome job bro, keep it up. :)

I redid the head. Still kept the octagon shape as that's how it is drawn in the concept art. But I did take Warmachine's suggestion and made the border thicker. Looks loads better to me. As for the size of the head in comparison to the concept art, I sometimes don't go by the drawing's proportions. Often times, particularly in comics and noticably in TWW, certain parts are drawn out of proportion (e.g. bigger chest, smaller head) to emphasize a certain look (brute). Anyways, ill post pics of new head tonight after work.
