Question about Energon Starscream...

I remember somewhere I had seen pics of the gray repainted version that had all the battle-damaged bits from the first "Ghost of Starscream" run smoothed out and made perfect.  Then when I finally got the G1-colored version, mine still had all the damage.  Was the non-damaged version a Japan-only release?  Did it never really exist in the first place?

I don't think it ever existed - although I recall rumors where people thought HasTak might was going to remold out the damaged bits, which is maybe where you picked up this idea.

The damage was never smoothed over.  It's just that the handful of preview pics happened to be filmed at such an angle that a lot of that battle damage either wasn't visible, or just blended better.
