What happen to the disguise

Energon futuristic story line my explain the futuristic modes of some transformers, but what happend to robots in disguise( The idea, not the show.) If you saw a armada jet, you knew it was a decepticon, because nobody else makes jets like that. This is why I think I love the Binal Tech/Alternator line so much, because they resemble todays cars. Im just saying alternitive modes just seem to be a way to give advantages to transformers more these days, than actually blending in to anything. Im thinking it has a lot to do with copy rights stuff, whatta ya think?

most look goofy and obvious of how to transform.

you see most of their heads as well, which i hate!

That's 'cuz in ain't for disguise now. In Energon, the TFs have pretty much revealed themselves to the human population, so now the only real point of Transforming is for mobility. The visible heads thing is more a personality trait than a flaw in the toy designs, IMO.

The disguises were never -about- hiding from the -humans-. Teletran reformatted them to blend in with what it took to be the "dominant intelligent life-forms" on the planet. Since it had no reference at the time for intelligent organic life, it picked the machine "life" it found.

The point of disguise was to hide from the other faction(s). Which is why they had alt-modes on Cybertron. You didn't think they were hiding from humans on Cybertron, did you?

i think the heads showing on the figures in energon is more of lazy/uninspired design. i mean, look at ironhide, his head sticks out and shines like a cash money millionaire's bling. they could've at least given his head a pop-up feature like armada starscream. don't get me wrong, energon has some awesome tfs. some are among the best tfs overall imo, but i think a just a couple of more hours could have gone into design. i don't think that would've hurt the designer too much, just one more cup of coffee is all i'm asking for. am i selfish for wanting quality if i'm going to give hasbro hard earned money?

I don't think that's selfish. All they woulda had to do was make the head turn around. That would have satisfied most of us. I don't mind being able to see some of the head, so long as it blends in, and you cant see the FACE, like Shockblast. But like on Inferno, Strongarm, and especially Ironhide, more effore could be made to hide the thing. Strongarm is a design I really like for the most part, but within 30 seconds of pulling him out of the package, I found a half dozen easily done, feasible ways to eliminate his issues. Like you said, that one extra cup of coffee, and adding $2 to the price of something to make it really well done is money well spent.

I think it was more of a dumming down affect to get to younger kids. the easier the transformation the more of them the younger kids will want. When The R.I.D. transformers came out I found it a little hard to transform them with out going to the instructions. Especially when it came to Omega Prime. When Transformers first came out in the 80's the age was 8 and up now if you look at the Transformers for now its 6 and up. Theirs your reason for the head showing

P.S. Why Does Omega Supreme look like the SDF-1 ?

You said it! I agree entirely

We've been dreaming of this one, and it appears a transforming K.I.T.T. will be coming as soon as August! It must be something big and or special with a $49. - Read the Full News Story

    • EDIT 2: Okay, I think my real problem with this was the marketing image. The main image shows four robot turtles standing together, so I was ready for four toys, not one. Admittedly, I was so disappointed that I did not bother to read the article fully. That's my fault. I apologize. That said, now that I understand it is THE van that turns into a robot, not "robot versions of the four turtles," that makes more sense, but I don't get the four heads. There are images here of a bandana free head which I gather is not included. I would actually prefer a non-specific generic turtle head for the robot. I think that would remove a lot of confusion. At least for me. EDIT 1: My bad, I misunderstood. It's one toy with swappable heads. So, you made a thing based on a four member team, and you only want to sell one toy? You're not even trying to get people to "Collect all FOUR!" You do understand how toy sales work, right? Original Comment: This is a perfectly fine idea executed TERRIBLY. You made four unique toys, each specific to each of the Ninja Turtles, that all turn into the same vehicle? It would be one thing if they joined together to form the van. There have been transformer sets like that before. This is just wasted opportunity. Not to mention, that van exists for the turtles to ride in together as a team, so if they can turn into vehicles ... what do they need a van for? I get that that's their van, and that's cute and all, but ... this is just dumb and disappointing. Why not think about what kind of car each of them would drive based on their personalities, or ask some car company if they want to do a tie-in promotional? What do I want with four copies of the same van and no one to ride in any of them? It makes no sense.
