we're skinning th frame with 4mm MDF,which will then be sanded down and then detail added. hope to have some more pics up soon. its looking MUCH better!

ok some more pics, i'll try to get some pics of him in city mode up tonight. he's coming together pretty well i think. just have to figure out a mechanism for the head... i don't think it'll be spring loaded like the toy!

and a side view. the rest of the lower leg is now built. i don't think i've had as much trouble building something as i have had with the back of the leg. nightmare. thats the trouble with trying to replicate a injection moulded piece with timber. more pics up later!

I cant' wait to see you pull this off. You might want to contact reprolabels.com to see if they can even print an Autobot symbol big enough for that. That is just flat out AWESOME.

 

p.s.  Not to be a killjoy or anything, but you mentioned before and you have also shown in your W.I.P. that you are using timber...Just how heavy is that monstrosity going to be? From the looks of it you would need two people just to pick him up to transform him.

yeah... he's pretty heavy. but no more than you'd expect a piece this size to weigh. to be honest using any other material would have been to fragile and not able to support his weight.
