Re-issue Dinobot Giftset

Well as the title says I believe this was a lost opportunity on Has/Tak's side. Why did they never do this? It would have sold incredibly well especially if they were released in one giant giftset like Predaking.

The Dinobots were some of the coolest (even by today’s standards) G1 transformers, and one of the most popular to boot, and they were completely glossed over and ignored. Do they no longer have the molds or something?

Don't mistake this for anger or whining. It's more along the lines of shock.

APPARENTLY, the molds broke. i dunno if that's true or not though.

what's even lamer is their reason for not releasing any of the older combining teams. "Oh, becasue there's so many knockoffs." there aren't that damn many knock offs, and most of the reason they keep gettign bought by collectors is because they can't get ahold of the real ones. hell, the reissue line is for collectors anyway.

Apparently the Dinobots weren't that popular in Japan....

Im not so sure some of them would pass the drop test either.

If you'll notice, some of those KO combiner sets have TFs from other combiners packaged with them. The reason being that the original molds are degraded / lost / destroyed. I don't think Hasbro would really *not* reissue a TF just because of KOs. Look at Bruticus/Ruination and how many times he's been released by Hasbro.

It's the same reason that we're not seeing a Sunstreaker or Wheeljack reissue. It simply can't be done unless the molds are recreated from scratch. And that's not the kind of investment that a toy company wants to make for a reissue targeted towards collectors.

Actually that is the major reason...for some odd reason the Japanese weren't big on the Dinosaur Robo/Dinobot toys

That and Swoop's mold "broke"

The Japanese, who we have seen countless times fleeing in shear terror from Godzilla, don't like Dinosaur Robots?

*scratches head in utter bewilderment*

so what if the molds broke? honestly do the KO companies ues the orriginal molds? nope they cast them form existing toys......well most of the time any way. the point is that replicating the g1 dinobots would be easy and cheap. besides saying that they use one mold for every single figure produced is a bit far fetched to quickly produce enough figures to sell to the consumers. for a run of say 10,000 figures i'm guessing you'd need at least 30 molds to produce enough quality tested product in 3 months to put on the shelves. these molds aren't stamps, the pvc/and or diecast needs to be cooled before it can be removed from the mold. therefore saying the mold broke is BS. how could they all break?

it's not like they're kept in a museum or anything. Stuff gets lost or destroyed. It happens.

The point is that these molds *would* need to be recreated now from scratch, and that's just prohibitively expensive. To think that Hasbro would intentionally deny themselves the chance to make money is ludicrous.
