A thought regarding Alt. Ironhide/Skids...

[The REAL Generation Zero]

With the recent news that Takara is releasing him as Skids, does anyone else think that this may be why the head is ambiguous to either charachter, but will pass for both?

 

Maybe Takara wanted Skids, but Hasbro wanted a more memorable charachter over here, and wanted Ironhide... so they designed a head that would work for either, and Hasbro will release him in red as Ironhide, while Takara releases him in blue, as Skids?

I don't have one on hand, personally, but I can tell you for sure that from the ones I've seen, Swindle's head is a dead ringer for the amalgamation head used for Trailbreaker in the Universe comics, using features from the cartoon and the toy.

Is very well possible that he'll be called Skids in BT and Ironhide in ALT. Has happened before and will probably happen again. To be honest, I hope not: this figure looks more like Skids to me than as Ironhide. (Truth is, I don't want this to be Ironhide: the car is to fugly and I'm still hoping for a pick-up truck as Ironhide.)

there is no logic behind it, its just one mans perception of one particular character (perceptor IMO) which happens to be generic enough to have aspects of other characters in it.

 

HasTak need no `dual head` to make character changes, Dead End, Windcharger and swindle testify to this

Walky proved long ago that the head looks NOTHING like Beachcomber, but a lot like Trailbreaker (cartoon/toy hybrid design, looked EXACTLY like that in the "Universe" comics from 3H). And the Japanese BT guide book officially confirms that the head WAS designed to be Trailbreaker.

Hmm.. I part of me wants to have Skids gain some sort of claim to fame.. but another part of me wants this to be good ol Ironhide.. either way it's fitting for me.
