'Lost and Found'

Recommended Posts

The midnight breeze crept over the Sahara, changing everything, yet nothing. The sand, looking pale and sick under the summer moon, bustled along through it and entire dunes shrunk while others grew. The air held a sharp chill while silence grasped everything in sight. It was as though the end had already come.

Even with the glow of the moon, one would never have been able to see the air as it morphed and twisted, bent and warped creating its own reflections as something or someone stalked slowly across the dunes, as if it were searching. They would never be able to see as the object, as large as it was, left four six-foot long trails in the sand, pushing it upwards and digging through it at the same time while purple and blue sparks leapt and burst along this enourmous object in streams, some bright like the moon, and some dim as though the sparks were dying.

If one were stranded, knowing they were alone in this desert, then they would have no fear of this object, even as it now seemed to be crawling atop the sands, desperate for help.

If one knew, it could look the object dead in the eyes as they flickered, dying.

They would be able to watch this warping, twisting air take shape and be able to see what was driving into the sand, creating those long trails: they would see what looked like mechanical arms and legs, colored white and blue and spotted not only with rust, but of blackened holes and metal that's bent and twisted from the body it's connected to.

Not long before dawn, the cloak failed, as did the sparks jumping from their host.

Morning came, and now, alone in the sands of the Sahara, the lifeless body of the Autobot known as Mirage lies in the constant breeze and intense heat of the sun like a fallen statue. The only sound for miles is the faint emergency response alarm signal now traveling beyond the stars from behind the left audio receptor of Mirage's brain...

'Lost and Found', part 2...

FFFOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMM!!!

The fusion cannon's blast from the Decepticon warship ripped through the Autobot carrier, nearly splitting it in half!

Ultra Magnus: "Evade! Two Decepticon warships, about to flank us! Springer, Tracks, side cannons, NOW!!"

The two Autobots took to the double-barrel pulse cannons on the sides of the ship, desperately firing into each of the Crypts, two of the largest known Decepticon vessels as Ultra Magnus and Prowl broke the ship out of its routine course, diving low towards Earth as more energy blasts exploded around them.

Ultra Magnus: "Try to keep the course! The Decepticons won't risk Earth's defenses, even with two Crypts!"

Prowl's receptors could barely make out anything Magnus said, his arms felt as though they were permanently locked onto the steering control of the ship as more explosions rocked it along with everyone inside, not to mention the turbulent descent through Earth's atmosphere.

Prowl: "We're...breaking apart Magnus...the ship can't take this! They ambushed us...they must've been watching for months..." Prowl said, his eyes burning red from the heat and pressure inside the cabin. "Magnus??" he called.

No response. Prowl's call was met only with the screams of other Autobots aboard, seeking shelter for the emergency landing.

Prowl: "Magnus, I..." Prowl said, glancing over only out of the corner of his eye, but just enough to see Magnus' dead body hunched over the dash, sparks flying from where his eyes were, as well as from the ship. His mouth, twisted wide open in a sort of desperate scream.

It took Prowl only seconds to shove his fallen comrade from his mind and to concentrate on saving what was left of the crew-if there was any to save by the time they landed. Several smaller energy bursts tore through the bridge of the Autobot shuttle, drowning the rest of the screams until finally the rattle of the shuttle's entrance into the atmosphere slowed, and through the glass shielf of the ship's cockpit, Prowl could see the glimmering lights of the Earth's cities, mimicking the stars they came from as they descended and prepared for an emergency landing.

'Lost and Found', part 3...

The Autobot shuttle looked like a shooting star as it sparkled in the bright morning sky, scattering debris over miles of the Earth. Inside however, the scene was chaos as the remaining robots inside struggled against the inevitable...

Tracks: "The Crypts are falling back, find some cover!" Tracks' words were almost lost in the cabin as small explosions burst along the walls, already failing from the Decepticon attacks and made worse by the Earth's atmosphere. "Prowl! Leave it and get back here!!"

Prowl reluctantly switched to the auto-emergency controls and leapt from his chair, running through the rear doors of the cabin to join the others in the shelter. 'Magnus...' he thought to himself. Without hesistation, Prowl slammed his hand onto the door control and ran back to Ultra Magnus, still slumped over the control deck of the ship.

Springer: "Prowl!! Get back!!"

But Prowl wasn't listening. Instead, he wrapped his right arm around the waist of Magnus and half carried, half dragged his body back into the cabin's emergency shelter as the shuttle screamed through the wind, tumbling towards earth. Prowl nearly threw himself and Magnus through the door, slammed the door control and braced himself against the wall before the ship slammed into the surface.

The Autobots aboard the ship, Tracks, Springer, Ratchet, and Prowl, all waited silently as the emergency procedures were automatically activated by the shuttle in order to ease the landing and provide a shelter for all aboard, including the pilot.

The system was working.

'Touchdown in 10...9...8...7...6...5...4...3...bzzzzzztttt!!!!'

The pressure dropped in the ship as the emergency systems failed, dropping the Autobots and their ship five-hundred feet onto the hard earth below! The ship burst to pieces and the Autobots inside were thrown about the shelter, slammed unconscious and remaining there for days as the wind whistled through the shattered windows of the what remained of the ship.

On the fifth day, Ratchet woke first to darkness. He began crawling along the floor, hoping to find his comrades, instead, he found himself looking out to the night sky, through one of the holes in the side of the ship

Ratchet:"Uhhhnnnnn....Prowl?...Tracks??" He said, shaking his head while his visual receptors reconfigured themselves.

The others began to stir, slowly picking themselves up and adjusting to the night.
