there was a paint problem with the diecast metalsin the eighties (as i recall the metal oxidized under the paint chainging the paint compounds allowing it to discolor) , my hotwheels attest to that, any 80's white hotwheels yellowed, but the nineties white ones did not, the process usually took about 5 years, and artifical light didnt do it like direct sunlight does

First of all, there are 2 things to consider here. The die-cast colors do not become discolored. All of the toys you see with discoloration (Wheeljack, Jetfire, Overdrive) are because they yellow on the plastic parts.

I may expect Meister to have a problem one day, but honestly, none of my white toys from the early 90s have becomed yellowed. For some reason only TFs... And a TF can yellow in less than a year!

I've found both the plastic and painted die-cast areas can yellow - but Tripredacus is right, the plastic tends to yellow before (and to a much greater extent) the paint.

By the way, I've heard that some have fixed minor yellowing by submerging the parts in bleach for a couple of hours - anyone here ever try that? I have a vintage Wheeljack who'd just love to be white again.

the yellowing gives your tf's a vintage look to it lol.. just dont put yout tf's in the dishwasher thinkin u can remove the discoloration lol...

Why, what does that do? I have a strange feeling you know...

there was an older thread on using the dishwasher to clean tfs... not exactly the best way to clean tf's but if you are experiencing yellowing on your tf's just move them away from natural sunlight... too much exposure and they wither and die. (or crack)
