I'd imagine he was a bit shaken up over having just watched his commander, friend and brother (that -is- why his non-powered mode is identical to Prime) die, and as such, his motor functions were a little off.

i simple mistake on magnus' part.

 

btw,i belive he would havemade a better leader than hot rod[big mistake]

andi agree with prime i would have given him the matrix

the reason why hot rod was the chosen and not magnus was that he was the only auto bot who had fingers that fit into the square holes on the matrix's handles. so it was all a matter of structural form rather than worthiness

 

 

as to the the putting the matrix in twice, its a shame that the tv show and movie never reallygot involved in the tf's personal life's otherwise we would all know about ultramagnus moonlighting as a magician at birthday parties on cybertron, but then not knowing could be a good thing, cause they kept wheelies cross-dressing on the DL
