Masterpiece Ultra Magnus First Look At Prototype For MP-22 In Figure King Magazine

Recommended Posts

Thanks to TAG Hobby and Cybergundam who has provided the first images from the newest issue of Figure King showing the much anticipated first look at Masterpiece Ultra Magnus. The captions visible on some of the images make reference to MP-10 Convoy, however it's not clear at this time whether it's noting development around MP-10, or is using it as a point of comparison. Ultra Magnus is depicted in vehicle and armored robot modes, and shown carrying the MP Autobot cars. Clearer scans are sure to follow, but check out these first glimpses below! Interesting, the cab looks like MP10. Comparing to other photos with Prowl (since you can see him on the trailer) it might be the same cab but a recolor.

If they are going to stay within the cartoon scale guides like they say, I'd expect the trailer to be a partsforming armor peices, considering Ultra Magnus is just slightly taller than Optimus Prime:

He's massive! Hope they've been able to better incorporate the trailer and cab transformation, rather than just an armor-clad Prime.

Following yesterday's initial reveal with hasty photos of the pages of Figure King, today we have a clear, direct scan giving us an excellent look at MP-22. Seemingly hidden at the moment is the scope of the integration of the truck cab to the robot form. All we can tell is that the backpack seems to at least emulate the shape of the small robot's legs hanging from the back as on the original G1 toy. Check out the image below! • Agreed. Let's leave that word in the historical dustbin please.   But I also disagree with the basic argument here ie that this is a stupid controversy. I DO think the current 14 issue is likely a case of an innocent coincidence, but the initial MAGA issue was not. It was an objectively political statement that has no place on a toy. Additionally, there's an extra problem with either being on Jazz; a character whose voice was originated by one of the few black performers to voice a Transformer, and also the first. 14 may have had an innocent origin in this case, but in light of both the previous not-innocent MAGA issue, this being Jazz, AND the fact that the fandom was bound to wonder why a number on a well-loved character was changed (see the endless speculation regarding ER Smokescreen), the result is a very bad look that could have and frankly should have been anticipated by the design team.
