Simplistic Engineering Vs Modern Figures.....

I'm going to sound like an idiot, but what does CHUG stand for?

Classics, Hunt (for decepticons), Universe 2.0, Generations....

I always thought the H stood for Henkei! Henkei! The Japanese version of the Generations line, makes more sense since HFTD was a movie tie-in line

....guess you're right. I never even considered Henkei! Never owned one of the Japanese releases.

That's always gonna be one of the great debates. Some people love simplicity while others want a Rubik's Cube. I think Hasbro plays into both courts well enough. I totally agree about gimmicks though. Most of the gimmicks have hampered a clean design or otherwise over-complicated the transformation process. Worse yet, if the gimmick breaks most times you're left with a useless clump of plastic. Personally, I subscribe to the KISS theory:

Keep It Simple Stupid!

Probably the only instance where KISS and Transformers can acceptably be put in the same topic

I like my G1 Headmasters, but I guess it's also a bad concept, as far as the toys go. If you break or lose the Headmaster component, that's it, your Transformer is now useless.

simple is better. i think the prid revealers do a good job of keeping things simple. then there's also the legion, commander class bots that are also simple. i hope they stay on this track of making transformations fun and simple as in the prid revealers line.
