Omega Supreme

Animated was/is an amazing show. I'd love to at the very least see a comic continuation of that universe. So many stories went untold....

I did like G1 Omega Supreme though. It's just that for the purposes of this discussion the Animated take on his alt mode makes alot more sense.

And mass shifting is a cool concept, but it really only exists as an unnecessary complication to justiy releasing both Microman and Diaclone figures under one banner. As such, it's probably better that it was done away with in later TF incarnations.

Have you seen the mass changes in Transformers Prime? There's no way a motorcycle decompresses to that much mass the way Arcee does. Granted it's not as bad as G1 Megatron shifting but there are definite mass changes in TF Prime.

Transformers Prime has elements from Bayverse. Bayverse doesn't use mass shifting. What they do; however, is complex sliding and shifting of components to make them smaller. It's feasible enough.

That is not necessarily true, I wouldn't say bayverse. Bayverse is more conclusive and irrelevant

Please do explain? Anybody who has seen a Michael Bay/ Steven Spielberg movie can see the ideas from those said movies were used in Transformers Prime. Anybody who knows anything about those movies knows that Bay didn't like mass shifting, therefore used a complex process of shifting and folding pieces during transformation. Optimus Prime's first Transformation in the first movie is a perfect example. Blackout's transformation is another. Sure, the transformations aren't that complex in Prime, but what do you expect from an animated show? No, this fact is very relevant.

Not to jump in on somebody elses' conversation, but here goes: the Cybertronians in the Bayverse do not transform so much as they actually morph. IMHO, as much as I universally adore the designs of all the mech in the movies (except for some of the more traditionally accepted "organic" indulgences extended to some of the 'bots), the Bayverse does cheat. A lot. Bay & Co. state that they don't utilize mass-shifting of any level with their designs, and I'll take them at their word. But parts are clearly warping and deforming and bending and undergoing quite a bit of physical transmogrification and are able to reverse this over and over again. So, they are not transforming. They are full-blown metamorph shape-shifters. Which I don't mind at all, don't get me wrong. It's just not the traditional "this section of the vehicle or device becomes the body part of this robot" scenario we'd generally see outside of the Bayverse. In the Bayverse, the vehicle/device is the functional equivalent of a robe that shifts and morphs to fit over the robotic endoskeleton.

I still think the Animated iteration of Omega featured the best alt mode. He could serve the function of being the Autobots last line of defense just as well--if not even better--from orbit, as seen in the G1 bio for Blast Off. He's just monitor the whereabouts of all their enemies and pick them off while in orbit, or something to that effect. This would probably even make him seem more fearsome. A fortress of some sort would still be cool, but the spaceship configuration is more versatile, imo.

I'd like to see Omega have an altmode vaguely resembling the Space Battleship Yamato. Gun arm as the bow, claw arm and thrusters as the rear, legs and body making up the hull, cover the whole thing with point defense systems and some long guns.

    • If you've not had your fill of Transformers collaborative news today, here is some more with a leaked product listing for the Project Knight: Transformers X Knight Rider crossover. We've been dreaming of this one, and it appears a transforming K.I.T.T. will be coming as soon as August! It must be something big and or special with a $49. - Read the Full News Story
    • Tonight on GotBot Goes Live, we talked Transformers news for the newest multipack and some reissues. We also talked collaboratives with TMNT, an Ectotron reissue and, maybe, even Star Wars? Plus, we address the MP Ginrai teaser image and answer who is Riggorus?
    • EDIT 2: Okay, I think my real problem with this was the marketing image. The main image shows four robot turtles standing together, so I was ready for four toys, not one. Admittedly, I was so disappointed that I did not bother to read the article fully. That's my fault. I apologize. That said, now that I understand it is THE van that turns into a robot, not "robot versions of the four turtles," that makes more sense, but I don't get the four heads. There are images here of a bandana free head which I gather is not included. I would actually prefer a non-specific generic turtle head for the robot. I think that would remove a lot of confusion. At least for me. EDIT 1: My bad, I misunderstood. It's one toy with swappable heads. So, you made a thing based on a four member team, and you only want to sell one toy? You're not even trying to get people to "Collect all FOUR!" You do understand how toy sales work, right? Original Comment: This is a perfectly fine idea executed TERRIBLY. You made four unique toys, each specific to each of the Ninja Turtles, that all turn into the same vehicle? It would be one thing if they joined together to form the van. There have been transformer sets like that before. This is just wasted opportunity. Not to mention, that van exists for the turtles to ride in together as a team, so if they can turn into vehicles ... what do they need a van for? I get that that's their van, and that's cute and all, but ... this is just dumb and disappointing. Why not think about what kind of car each of them would drive based on their personalities, or ask some car company if they want to do a tie-in promotional? What do I want with four copies of the same van and no one to ride in any of them? It makes no sense.
