Does someone know how can I take off that screw inside the door of alternator Wheeljack? I`m ready for a repaint but I want to take off that screw to paint the door, but I`m afraid of breaking it...

Well Brazilian that would be a pin not a screw so you`ll probably have to heat it up some and then pull it out with plyers( I think that`s how it`s spelled). Anyway the pin needs to be pulled straight out so as not to bend it then the door will come right off. The reason you don`t want to bend it is that you`ll need it later to put it back on because believe me there isn`t any place that carries those things. I`ve looked. Anyway good luck my friend.

^ pin...that's right. Also thought it was a screw.

In that case: do what RodVTS said, plus a little extra. You'll have to do a little search here (or at transtopia, but I think it was here :schin )

Simply heating the pin and then removing it, will be a hell of a job. There was discussion here (or again, at transtopia) about removing the door pins from Meister. Someone, completely forgot who, suggested using a dremel to make little notches on the side of the pin. After heating the pin, these notches will give plyers (?) a better grip, making it easier to remove the pin.

Do the search for a better description (than my lame I-really-should-go-to-bed-cos-I'm-effing-tired-English) and some pics. :thumb

That would be THIS thread started by me, and the suggestion/tip/advice was given by plowking.

I took apart an Alt Grimlock about a month ago, so I can say that it works on the Mustangs.  :thumb

Hey dude, this thread is simply a phenomena!!!! I learn a lot w/ OTHER`S mistakes  :tflaugh  but I`m too "banana" (scaried) to take off the wheels. I got a good paint job under Golden Smoke wheel simply taping it, then I`ll do the same to Wheeljack.I`m just not sure if the RED paint will look the same over white and blue cause I`m almost sure I`m not going to remove the stripes...

Brazillian there are several ways to remove the stripes. I believe it was Madhammer who used alcohol to remove the details from Decepticharge. I used nail polish remover on my Hotrod repaint from Excellion to remove the silver from his head lights. Then there the enamel paint thinner from testors, of course you could always just used some autobody paint job sand paper so that you don`t mess up the plastic. You also might try toothpaste believe it or not when you brush your teeth you are polishing them so if you use tooth paste on the stripes it should polish the stripes away.

squall42080 suggested in his VTEC character's thread to use a metal polisher called Brasso to remove paint from a TF.  I've personally tried it out, and it does work.

(Although I might not have been doing something right, and it was taking FOREVER to rub it all off.  So I ditched the idea, and went to automotive sandpaper instead.)

  • 5 weeks later...

Hey guys, got a project I'm working on where I'll have to build a head at some point..I can't find any places locally that sell Styrene, and I don't really want to order it just yet. I've read you can use CD cases in place, but it's a bit too thick for me to work with.

Is it possible to use those "Garage Sale"/"For Sale"/Etc. signs in place of Styrene, and just layer it up?

Aoi
