Generation 2 Darkwing Megatron... What could have been....

Recommended Posts

post-29037-0-38368700-1347251650.jpgI used the head of hero Megatron on G2 Dreadwing, and it fit perfectly! They have the same plug and screw system to attach the head... like they were meant for each other. The idea came to me from the IDW comics, that use a Megatron mold that transforms into a flying wing kind of plane. I remembered reading that Hasbro wanted to repaint Dreadwing into Megatron at the end of the G2 line and never did. The rest is history...post-29037-0-71531300-1347251683.jpg

I always found it amusing that the only figure to represent Starscream being up Megatron's ass never had a full retail release.

:tflaugh

Was this G2 Darkwing, or the Beast Wars II Starscream & BB release?

It was a repaint of G2 Darkwing and Smokescreen as a new form for G2 Megatron and Starscream, later repainted in BWII Starscream and BB, and even later repainted into Gigant Bomb and Smokejumper (Smokesniper, heard it both ways)

I know the history of the figure. ;) Forgot the RiD versions Dreadwind & Smokejumper, though.

I was just curious if this custom was done with the G2 set, or the BWII set as I've heard the BWII set is near identical to the cancelled Megatron & Starscream release, with an exception of the Predacon symbols.

Derp. It is the BWII one. Just remembered the G2 guys were blue / blue camo. :redface

The beast wars 2 repaints of Darkwing and Smokescreen are actually the colors they were going to use on the Megatron/Starscream set. I imagine that Megatron would have looked exactly like my kitbash. I am reposting the pictures, as it seems that they are not up. Also, you can do a better kitbash by creating Starscream by using the head of Energon Starscream; Smokescreen and E. Starscream share the same general mold, and the heads can be exchanged. Just be careful because the plug system they use is kind of tricky!post-29037-0-01228000-1347322927_thumb.jpg
