Unusual alternate forms

Come to think of it, structures like buildings and bridges aren't great disguises because:

a) They can't move

b) If you transform/move, people are going to notice!

Even a tree might be a better disguise because (most) people don't drive on/live in/work in trees. If a tree is missing, people might assume it fell down or someone cut it down. It's not going to draw as much attention as an entire missing building or bridge! :D

The cool thing about Transformers alt modes is their ability to be not just robots in disguise, but to move about Earth without drawing attention to themselves. That's why I really like the idea of something plain like a bus, taxi, regular car etc. I like the idea that you could be walking past a Toyota Camry or a german shepherd or a pigeon or a ficus tree or vending machine or a traffic light or a lampost -- perfectly mundane things that you wouldn't pay a second thought to - could be alien robots in disguise. :) A building might be okay if it were fairly small... like maybe an outhouse, hahaha. :D Ooh, or a blue police phone box!! (:

I can easily see a big TF like Trypticon scanning, say, a solar power plant. Then a group of vehicons could refomat as the solar panels and hook in to his system. For authenticity they could project holographic "workers" ala Blackout's pilot or Arcee's rider.

It's a better way to produce energon than creating tidal waves, attacking existing power plants, or bridging Cybertron into Earth orbit....

Maybe you can try to squeeze some robot bits under the bridge, but either the bridge will end up looking chunky, or the robot will be compromised.

Put the robot parts into oversized decorative fake supports like the Harbour Bridge. Have the roadway mostly fold up inside the torso and partly become wings or a cape (or wrap around the torso for definition). Make the girder structures concertina up into solid chunks which peg into place, or fold in on each other for Omega Supreme-style wings.
