Word has started circling the Internet today about new restrictions being placed on the selling of Transformers fan art at this years Botcon convention. Artists that purchased tables at the convention are being told that fan art which may infrige on Hasbro's intellectual property or trademarks can not be sold at the convention. We went to the Club and asked for clarification, we were told that this was a policy being implemented by Hasbro and would only effect those who have never been contracted by Hasbro and its licensees before. ... and the downward spiral continues...

agree.gif this is why BotCon '13 will be a ghost town with all these lame ass restrictions Hasbro is placing.

What's next? Not allowing people to wear TF apparel? No refreshments in the dealer room? I have yet to go to a BotCon(since never close to me), but this is making me not want to go in the future if it ever comes close to where i live.

I had planned on going to this one since it was within driving distance and my first one. Guess I'll save my cash and my vacation days.

A fan convention is now Hasbro's own personal Toy Fair.

On a more cynical note: Fans wanted Hasbro to interact with them more? Careful what you wish for...

Man, I guess the legal team decided to blanket it all to avoid any gray area.

Either way, sad to see. Hope this doesn't last.

Two quarters of losses in a row. Layoffs in the USA. The Hub is a lame duck. Belt tightening on DOTM. What took so long for the paranoia to set in?

I got $20 that says Hasbro will blame their next bad quarter on piracy. :tfpwn
