i saw that just now. Robot Kingdom has it for $79.99 on pre-order. I think I'm gonna pass on this set. As nice as it is, it's just too much of a wallet burner.

Oh man... That's... insane. I feel bad about saying that, but... wow. Don't get me wrong, I've put down some heafty cash on some third party prouducts before... but... really? $100 for one sixth of a combiner? He'll be close to $600 when all is said and done, and while I am sure he will be full of awesome, I just can't justify that kind of expense. Hell, some of the ones I do buy for much less then that the justification can be pretty weak. ("I know the Takara DOTM Optimus is four or five times as much as the Hasbro one, but I must have my useless plastic box on wheels!") This one... Can't do it, Sally.

To those who can do it... More power to you, and I look forward to enviously enjoying the reviews online.

Shipping for this figure from RBK is around $15. I posted the actual price in the other thread regarding this figure in the news section. i figure if for any reason i don't have the money to complete the set, i could just resell it and make that money back when all the people who are passing on this now decide they actually want it. shit, i should have bought two...

There are a few reasons I have to pass on this one. The biggest is cost. But not so much the total price. What if future releases price goes up more? They could jack up the final piece to over two hundred, just because we need the last one to complete the set. Hopefully, these guys are not devious like that. Also, what if the first one doesnt sell well and they scrap the idea, or if they get three in and scrap it. Then we shelled out the cash for half a devastator.

But then, if they were all released at once for 600 there would be no way most people would be able to cover that.

This thing is a great idea, but I think they went too big.

Someone would finish it. fans project or I-gear i'm sure would love to take a crack at it.

If this is going to be the case with all the figures involved in this set, then I'm not going to want any part of it. $600 is a lot to shell out for what appears to be a comic book accurate Devastator. I, for one, am happy with my G1 Devastator and the add-ons I purchased from CrazyDevy.com. Articulation vs. nostalgia....I think nostalgia wins it for me there. Besides, if they were to base the full release of these figures based on sales response, with response possibly being poor for the first couple pieces, this company may screw over the fan public by only releasing 1, maybe 2, 3 or 4 figures out of the 6 needed to make this thing complete, and you'll have one incomplete Devastator. Now, what I'm hoping for is Fansproject to chime in and finish what Hasbro started with the Energon Constructicon Maximus. If they were able to produce a cement mixer, a dump truck, a crane loader and a backhoe (I think that's what Scavenger was), along with some appendage extensions like they did with the Bruticus project, I think we'll have a winner there. I'd be more than ecstatic to purchase that.

That's an awesome thought about Fansproject, but I could swear I read a few months back (although don't ask me to give a source, as I fear I cannot recall) that Fansproject was planning future projects based around what they knew what other third party developers were up to to try and avoid repetition. I guess they got burned on the G3 Prime trailer since there was a competing Classics Prime trailer produced around the same time. (Personally, though, I liked the look of G3 one better and that is the one I purchased.) So I wouldn't hold my breath on a Fansproject Devestator project.

I don't think it'd be repetition at all really. You have Mastermind Creations producing the Insecticons in steampunk variations derived from Hearts of Steel, and Fansproject producing the remainder of the Causality line. The TFC Hercules is a whole new sculpt, just like the Insecticons mentioned. Fansproject wouldn't be repeating the process by finishing off their Crossfire series. They gave us the Aerial Appendage kit for Superion Maximus. They gave us Explorer and Munitioner for Bruticus Maximus. So why not give us something for Constructicon Maximus? I think that combiner is entirely unfinished, and it deserves the same treatment as it's two Energon counterparts. Plus, on a pricing note, they can release 3 to 4 pieces priced at $47.99 each and they would sell greatly, compared to a possible 3 to 4 pieces priced at nearly $100 each, which have the possibility of selling or warming up inventory slots in a warehouse. From what I have seen from Fansproject, they seem to have a great understanding and communication with their fans. The other company, not so much as a peep on where they plan to take their Hercules project. Still, if Fansproject were to release some modification kits for the Constructicon Maximus combiner, they'll for sure have my simoleons shelled out for them.

I'd be fine if they released a figure every 2-3 month. $600 is alot of money, but not if you break it up throughout the year. If they released one every 2-3 months, you'd only need to save $33-50 a month.

What if they sold Not-Dev's hands, head(?) and gun(?) separately.

If they did do something that devious, I'm sure they would just about lose most, if not all, of their customers. Nobody wants to be screwed with, especially when you throw in their hard earned money.

The leg limbs seem to be the biggest of the 6, I think. So those 2 bots right there might get a price increase. Plus, what if they throw in diecast to give it some weight? Increase again.

    • Just got a new laptop, so I'm hoping this site won't crash my computer anymore. Anyway, I made the joke elsewhere that this is RotF Nightbeat and RotF Divebomb. The alt modes and colors mostly line up. And I love that ring shield. Of course the ring is a shield. You know, because when Sonic gets hit he loses rings. So it's just like a shield for him.  Dear Primus though. This laptop is trying to incorrectly correct me all the fucking time. The grammar check is very off. And no, it's not because my grammar sucks. It's rather good actually. They keep wanting to put commas where they shouldn't go in those instances. In most circumstances they'd go after the words they suggest. However not in the ways I used the words. Putting the pause where they're suggesting changes the entire sentence. For instance, they wanted me to put a comma after the "of course" and before "the ring is a shield".  It would've changed what I was trying to get across at that point.
