Masterpiece Megatron

Recommended Posts

I actually have 7 nothings; the original nothing I have sealed, one is open that I can play with, 3 are recolors, and two are a couple of the recolors that were repackaged with the zilch as a bonus pack.

....will I EVER be able to let this go?

Yeah, but I have a MOSC nothing mis-card. You know.. the little one from the Diaclone Nothing line that was mistakenly carded on a regular nothing's card.

It's even more rare because it's blue instead of the normal red/yellow nothings.

:D :tflaugh :D

why do i get the feeling botcollecter isnt a fan of recolors?  :tflaugh

A little voice in my head is telling me the same....but on a serious note, I can’t believe people would rather have nothing than what could be a way cool “action” figure. I guess maybe it’s my love for the original .megaton character that makes me feel that a non-transformable Megagtron would be better than nothing. I could see him finished in a brushed aluminum type finish with just a little red here and there. I can see him standing 12” tall and every bit an equal to Opimus Prime.

I remember the porn star look that the original megs had, with his trigger crotch…and well short from the fact that he had what is arguably the best gun mode ever seen in a transformer he was not a good transformer at all, IMO. So please oh please bring back megs, if he can transform into his original gun mode and not have a trigger crotch then more power to him…but please no tank mode!!! If hoping for transformation is too much then no prob non-transformable works for me too. :thumb

i've actually thought about this as well. would i prefer Megs to transform? absolutely. but, i agree with some people on here, i'd rather at least have an anime-correct 12" Megatron figure than nothing at all. plus, it can be viewed in 2 ways. 1. if he DOESN'T transform, then maybe the price will be a little lower. and 2. were they to do that, they could invest in other things for the toy, like the eyes lighting up (since Megatron did that in EVERY episode). also, you know they'd package it with all sorts of goodies, like his morning star, and probably some other stuff.

i love my 20th Prime, and he looks great posing with my BinalTech Smokescreen and Sideswipe....but he needs a foe.

i'd also like to see a masterpiece GALVATRON!!! :clap

No need for ActionMasterpiece Megs. Get Takara to build a working one and us slaving fanboys will import him.

There is a reason my Prime and Megs Collection is missing the Actionmaster versions of them, its because the are not Transformers. If you want a fully posable Megs go pick up a SFC Megs on Ebay. But actionmasters were just action figures with weapons, not really to different from GI JOE, except GI JOE had better articulation and attention to detail. Non transforming Transformers defeat the purpose of them being Transformers. If they make a Masterpiece Megatron and it does not transform, then I will not waste my money on one.

Well, I never liked megatron, so if they made one that transformed and it was 80-1`00 bucks, then I might have to pass. If they made one that didn't transform for $40-$50, then I would get it.

I think it would be a shame for him to not transform, but what's the point in the statues then... if they don't transform, then are the not worth it? I think one that looks like the cartoon would be grreat, with or without transformation.

Solution, make galvatron, becuase he transforms into that freakin weird gun tripod thing... no "gun" to have to worry about.

It would be a (virtual crime) to make a Megatron toy as bad-assed as Masterpiece Convoy, and not have a transformation.

It's been argued on TNI (and probably here) that if they made his robot mode size comparable to MP Convoy's, then the alt (handgun) mode would be too big.

However, it's also been pointed out that in G1, humans never held him because he was too big. Starscream and Prime have both used Megs in gun mode, and since Prime is estimated at 10 meters (about 33 feet) tall (see the insert that comes with MP Convoy), Megs's gun mode was huge. Granted, it wasn't near as large as an MP version would be (compared to Prime again), but that's really what the mini-Megs that comes with MP Prime is for, right? :)

As for his "trigger crotch".. if the engineers as Takara/Hasbro can manage to make an Optimus Prime that looks THAT much like his cartoon/comic book counterpart, they can probably come up with something to hide the trigger mechanism. (folds up into his chest, maybe? Splits in two and tucks into his legs?)

The only real obstacle is the US safety laws, and as I and others have stated before, a bright orange barrel-cap can be removed/repainted. Or, we can get an imported version, just like alot of us did with Masterpiece Convoy.

I, personally, would not be inclined to spend money on a so-called "Masterpiece" Megatron if it doesn't transform. Maybe if it's part of a line of highly-articulated statues... but not as part of the MP line. It just wouldn't be worth it.

A non-transforming Megatron Masterpiece would be a crime. There's no denying that it would probably be pretty cool as a robot if you had no memory of or history with Transformers, but I think every time I looked at it I would feel this animosity towards the whole situation. I would probably be less disappointed and frustrated, and less of the time at that, if they did nothing rather than a non-transformer.

If it is possible for them to do, they should do it right, as it is meant to be done. The Masterpiece series, by definition, is not one of compromize and corner-cutting. It is Masterpieces.

i agree 1,000,000,000%

This, unfortunately, is a lot less likely than was the reissue. A Megatron on a Masterpiece scale would so closely approximate an actual existing firearm, both in weight and appearance, that any instance of misunderstandings on the street or in homes or with the law would meet with immediate and total retribution, like crack-down hard core. Whatever the sentence is for importing illegal items, and for the sale of illegal items in the U.S., you can rest assured that whoever is the cuplrit for a Masterpiece Megatron is going to be prosecuted to the full-on ACTUAL extent of the law, like big time. Hard Core. Seriously.
