Review: RTS Battle In Space Set

Recommended Posts

100.jpg
Originally, Japan featured a Transformers 2010 3-pack featuring Cyclonus, Rodimus and Galvatron. Seems Hasbro knew what a mess Galvatron was, because they left him out and have blessed us with the simple "Battle In Space" 2-pack, featuring Classics Rodimus and Universe 2.0 Cyclonus. So what's the differences with this re-release? Jump to this review to learn more.

Didn't the Universe profile for Cyclonus say he could single handedly level the surface of a planet with his firepower and on this bio he only has a 7 for firepower while Rodimus has an 8!

Tech specs are wonky sometimes in my opinion. I think Rodimus' strength and Intelligence numbers are a little high too.

Huh? I never knew you could do that with the Targetmaster figure pegged into his wrist like that.

"Powered by nuclear engines, and a small fragment of his creator's supernatural power, CYCLONUS wields enough might to sterilize the surface of an inhabited world by himself."

Says nothing of firepower there :shrug

I was one such who had the original versions of both and looked forward to this set with relish. I love both molds, and liked the recolors.

my opionion is similar to yours: Cyclonus is pretty much a complete upgrade. He just looks much better in the new colors. I especially like that his shoulders and face are painted this time out. RtS Cyclo nus IS now my official Cyclonus. (my universe cyclonus is henceforth downgraded to "...and his armada.")

Rodimus is far more give and take. I miss his clear windows and think his new hood fire pattern is inferior to the classics version, BUT I LOVE his new brighter and more G1 accurate color scheme! Even that hood pattern gets points for being more in this spirit of the original! I love that his forhead crest is painted, I love his black wash, I love his gray hands and buzzsaw, (you can see more of the detailing on the saw now!) also, my classics rodimus always had loose jointing on his wrists, meaning his hands would often recess, but RtS's hands are nice and tight! I love both, so i can't give them up! they both co-exist as classics hot rod for me. (Though if I get that protector set this month I might just finally and fully repurpose classics rodimus as Rodimus Prime and let RtS Rodimus be Hot Rod.)

As for that Matrix, I love it! I love having a Matrix prop for this classics line, and I love that it came with Rodimus and not Optimus! Me, I took one of the twist ties and put it through the little necklace loops and tied it off, and hung it infront of Rodimus's chest. it looks good on him! But I'll probably hit up a hobby store and make a more appropriate chain for it.

So, yeah, even though I already had previous iterations of both molds, this was one rockin' set! Even loved the comic! Someone please bring the 86 movie back out on bluray and dvd, the sony wonder version is out of print and expensive. (Though this IS the 25th anniversary year for the movie, so here's hoping...

You most certainly "love" a lot! Maybe a little too much. :tfevil

Just not a fan of the Rodimus XD Sorry guys but after buying the Classics, Henkie and RTS I just really see no comparison.

Cyclonus on the other hand is just excellent! I was This > < close to buying the Henkie but this saved me quite a bit of cash XD

Comparing the stats of both characters they are about evenly matched.

Bought this double pack last friday.I gave in.Not bad.Awwwwww damn. Now that I think about it....I think I know have 4 Cyclunos figs.Well....geuss he will have his Armada like he was surpose to.

I do however favor this Cyclonus over my Henkei version.

Rodimus....whatever.Just got him so I can have Rodimus and Rodimus Prime.

I bought 2 of these, opened 1. Since I never had any version of Cyclonus, I am glad to have this one. I do wish they would have included Rodimus's targetmaster weapon as well (though the FansProject Sidearm is only $10 on most websites). To be honest, I just don't see what was so bad about the Galvatron in the 3 pack. It may not have been what all the fans have wanted in a Galvatron, but I would have liked to have a Galvatron at this scale. This is where Transformers fans mess things up. I would have bought the Challenge at Cybertron pack if it was sold at retail.
