Fansproject Update

According to someone who deals with Hasbro now and then, Hasbro are buzzing like angry bees over Fans Project and want to take action "pretty soon".

Can we source this?

I mean, I'm no expert in copyright or trademark law but it seems to me that there's very little reason for Hasbro to actually pursue FansProject - the latter has been very careful about avoiding actual intellectual property infringement in terms of product design, packaging, and marketing. Plus, FansProject is - insofar as I understand it - less a company and more a group of affiliated Transformers fans that happen to produce aftermarket goods. Is a workable legal action even feasible?

I can see how Hasbro's legal department might feel impelled to take action (e.g. cease-and-desist letters) for the purpose of demonstrating an interest in protecting their marks; outside of this, I'm really not sure as to why Hasbro would be "...buzzing like angry bees".

Maybe they [Hasbro] are jealous of how good their[FansProject] stuff is....so this is the only thing they know how to do to respond rather than take this as a hint to improve/partner.

I know i'm rather late on this, but Hasbro can't really do $#it about this since Fans Project is a Chinese company and China won't extradite their own people. See, this sort of thing isn't illegal in China, not even if Fans Project was doing what iGear was doing which is upscale KO's. Hasbro may be mad, but if that's the case, they need to raise the bar. They're lucky that Fans Project even exists, they are the only reason I bought the Classics Ultra Magnus to begin with.

Actually, If Hasbro wants to shut you down, they pretty much can. Even if they don't have a legal leg to stand on, they can tie you up in court for months/years. They have deep pockets when it comes to lawyers. In theory, you could win the case and wue to cover your lawyer fees, but you would have to spend that money first, and since they can outspend you, you stand no chance.
