Michael Bay has revealed that he will incorporate the IMAX shots featured in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen into the Blu-ray release of the film. In an interview with Home Media Magazine Mr. Bay says, "We're going to do a special IMAX skew where itll open up for those scenes. You can see top to bottom." He also adds that the DVD is being done by Charles de Lauzirika, who was responsible for the Blade Runner 25th anniversary set, "so we're going to have a lot of stuff." Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura adds that "there are a lot of scenes we weren't able to fully incorporate, and we're going to make it as exciting as we can for the fans."

Sweetness for us blu-ray owners. Hope we get plenty of deleted scenes re-incorporated into the movie. That and it'd be interesting to see Bay do something like what Zack Snyder did for the release of Watchmen. The maximum movie mode is brilliant.

I wonder what he means by the "special skew" where we can see "top to bottom." For the Dark Knight Blu-Ray, Nolan opened up the AR to 16:9 for the IMAX scenes so viewers could see some of the IMAX picture, but obviously lopped off plenty of the image from the top and bottom. Does this mean Bay's going to pillarbox the ROTF IMAX scenes?

Does that mean that the picture is going to be curved during the IMAX scenes? There's a Blu-Ray of the movie How the West Was Won that has an option to watch the film with a simulated curved screen, just like it was show in movie theaters.

PS3 + ROTF Blue-ray = :win

Can someone direct me to a list of which scenes are different or added in the iMAX version?

I didn't notice any added scenes, but the IMAX presentation had some scenes bigger - taller. When Devasator was on the screen, it expanded so you could see all of him. It was very cool, and I'd love to see that done on the DVD. On my 53" rear projection SDTV I can really enjoy the taller image - it'll expand from letterbox to fill the screen just like in the theater. On an HDTV I imagine they'd have to shrink the image to accomodate the additional height. Wouldn't bother me any more than letterbox does on a SDTV, but it might tick off some people.

these are the only extra scenes i noticed (if you can call them scenes, more like frames):

-when the twins are upgrading to their car alt modes there is a few seconds more of them driving around the cars in ice cream truck mode

-a scene of overload as well as extra scenes of constructicons driving to form devasator.

-extra scenes of devastator combining

-an extra pan around devastator when he is ripping up the pyramid.

i was pretty dissapointed. i was hoping there would be some extra ravage or sideswipe but there wasn't.
