A few things. So mainly as transformers are toys and kids are usually the ones that have toys.... what parent is going to buy their kid a £100 toy? not many I bet.

And most likly even fans will shun this (lets face it, the toy is bleh). So.... why did hasbro make something they will loose loads of money on?

A quick question (with a lead in) in the movie, the cons that made up devastator are not named. They are not high tower mix master etc. These parts just had the same alt modes. So my question is his: is it hasbro that is calling those parts by the indervidual names?

A bit silly really to name the parts at all as non of them are indervidual entities.

Hasbro made this for the same reason they made Ultimate Bumblebee. They thought it would sell great with kids and parents alike. Oh they were wrong.

Hasbro named them because to them, it would seem wrong to sell nameless vehicles.

I think they just gave them the names because it would have been a hard sell if they went nameless. Instead of making up some new names for the vehicles, HASBRO probably just used the same names and said, "look! These are the same guys, just never mind the fact that this one is called Scavenger"

Totally...still not completely accurate (moreso than Hasbro's though), but much better specimen (and a little better price point).

The EZ/Legends version is from Hasbro as well, it's just that it gets released by Takara first. Both toys have been designed by both Hasbro AND Takara.

Huh, didn't realize Hasbro had anything to do with that one. :shrug

25th Prime would have been more appealing IF it was at least more uniform in color. The Diecast part was pink!?! Good for collectors who skipped on that. If Hasbro didn't drop the ball, yeah it would have sold alot better.

I have 25th Anniversary Prime and there is no pink on him whatsoever.

I'll take a double tailed snake Rampage over centaur Rampage any day. All I need to see now is if Hightower has a similar 'robot' mode on the bigger transforming Deluxe/Voyager. If that's true I'll be 100% satisfied with EZ Devs.

I should've clarified...I was saying "totally" to the choice of the Legends version over this monstrosity...I like Rampage in either transformation (jackhammer/tail mode or what I like to refer to as 'crab-mode'), so wasn't really commenting about that.

I too am very curious to see Hightower robot mode...I'm actually hoping it's a little more than the strange crawler that we see in the Legends set...I realize there's a lot of detail missing in those little guys, but I'm not sure I quite understand what's going on with that particular figure. :shrug

Pros:

- he's a monster, huge! about 13 ½ inches when hunched over

- great sound chip (in mixmaster) he says a few lines of text and sounds while in Devastator mode...the voice clips are random, same one might sound off several times in a row, but still, very extensive. the sound chip/lights are all in Mixmaster. Removing him and TFing him into his cement mixer triggers the "transform" sound effect. While in truck mode, mixmaster makes a few random machine type noises.

all seem to have the vacuum / vortex noise and then....

1) an evil laugh

2) "destroy"

3) I am... Decepticon!! (WTF is that?)

4) Devastator, Destroy!

5) yeah ahaha autobots (I think)

6) I am....Devastator (odd that's similar to #3)

7) Devastator, Destroy Autobots!

- solid. He's about 7 to 8 pounds

- ratcheting shoulder joints

- ratcheting elbow joints

- ratcheting hips

- some articulation in "fingers"

- quite movie accurate

Cons:

- really weak vehicle modes (pretty much blocks of plastic)

- little to no paint apps (hightower is solid yellow)

- sorta "back heavy" (mixmaster is heavy

- hightower arm is very blocky looking. they couldv'e made it a little smaller and it would have balanced better with the other arm (scrapper)

- Demolisher is called Scavenger on the instructions

- Price is too high, should be closer to 50-60 USD in my opinion

- Knees are on hinge joints and pretty much locked where they are in order to support the weight

- Ankles are also on hinges, and render useless because of all the weight on him

- Walking on all 4s is going to require some heavy modding

- Demolisher looks like a nike shoebox with treads on it

- noice trigger on mixmaster is too sensitive while in truck mode.

All in all, I think this guy's great. he'd make an AWESOME centerpiece to any movie fan's collection, a must have. I see huuuuge potential for this guy getting lots of repaint and kit bashing action, and wish I didn't have to sleep so I can get to that.

I would agree. I don't mind some missing detail or articulation if it's fun, and this guy looks like lots. My only issue is th eprice, and whether I'll jump on him with some debit cards points I have saved up, or wait for clearance. If those among us who like this toy are lucky, he'll go on sale very soon like many of the other ROTF toys have. I might have to get him sooner rather than later.

Not sure what I'm more anxious for: getting him myself, or seeing your finished version of him!

Yeah, he does look good. But my complaints are:

1. Who he'll look in contrast to the other movie toys

2. Does he retain the voice actor as he did in the movie.

3. No Wrecking ball testicles. I might be able to make some, but still.

4. The lack of paint apps. Though I might be able to repaint some (Hightower especially).

5. The high price might be higher where I live (in Nova Scotia, Scout class is $10, deluxe class is 15 dollars, Voyager class is $30, Ultra is $40 and Leader class is $70, so I'm willing to assume that this will cost about 120 dollars before tax).

and 6. You spelled Noise wrong.

hasbro doesn't market movie toys to collectors. if that were the case, they'd have made Devy here much nicer and justified a $200 price tag. We've seen them try lots of times, and the SAME 25th anniversary edition Primes still sitting on the shelf for 4 months now proves that.

Honestly the quality + price are putting Devastator into a tough spot... most stores I've been in lately already have shelves full of LDR class figures. Kids (anyone under 17) don't buy $50 or $100 toys, they can beg, and after a few months *might* get a console game....

so, (a) I don't see kids buying this and (b) I don't see collectors sweeping them off the shelves either.

you diffenitly right on saying no little kid could get that but if their a good kid or spoiled by their parents then they could be able to get it and hey thats really mean saying that Kids (anyone under 17) don't buy $50 or $100 toys, i'm almost 17 and i've been getting 50 or 100 dollar TF since i was like 8

I think it's kind of bummer that even after a 100 bucks the separate vehicles don't even do anything. They could have at least made parts movable like Longhaul's bucket or Rampage's shovel, they just sit there, what's the fun with that. Even if it is just a kids toy for the price they could've at least given the little ones more interactivity with the vehicles so they could enjoy them even more in a sandbox as some have mentioned.

Plus I could see parents feeling like they got taken and ripped off, making them hesitate about that next Hasbro purchase, even if jr. whines.

And just as a side note, if I did get one for my kid the batteries in Mixmaster would last about 5 minutes before being yanked out, lol.

not that this argument is worth having, but it was anounced as 2ft tall befor toyfair.

One last time since you can't accept being proven wrong in front of everyone even when you're being shown evidence: NO.

1. The first article to mention ROTF Devastator in Toyfair (February '09) mentionned the robot mode IN THE MOVIE would be "an estimated 100 - 120 feet tall". Absolutely NO mention of the toy.

2. This is exactly where that retarded rumor started (end of January):
