Energon Starscream

Roodimus Convoy

Recommended Posts

I just bought E Starsceream the other day, but he wasn't packaged with the normal tech spec card with his stats on the back. The front of the card has the same artwork, but it's slightly smaller than on the other card. It has sharp corners instead of rounded ones, and on the back instead of his stats it had his quote and a short description of his character. It also appears to be numbered (#130) and features the Fleer logo near the bottom. What is this, some kind of Fleer trading card? Why was it packaged with the figure? Any light that could be shed on this would be much appreciated.

My Enerscream came with the same thing.

It gives you more of the story of Enerscream which is a cool thing.

I only wish I had the stat card as well.

But this might be a new promo with Fleer which makes the other Enerscreams that came with the stat cards collectables.

I noticed this.

Apparently, when new waves come out, some of the products from the *last* wave that are included with the case of figures from the new wave have the Fleer card in place of the tech spec.

If you collect 'em sealed in the box, you might want to check the side to see which card is included. Right now, the Fleer card seems to be more rare than the one with the tech spec but it may end up being that the version with the tech spec will be more valuable as more "rereleases" come out with the Fleer card.

I've noticed the new card on most or all of the Hot Shots, Infernos and Starscreams that were packaged in the same case as Rodimus :tfgrin , Snowcat and Prowl.

Personally, I couldn't keep an Energon Starscream in the box anyway. (I prefer the tech spec though, personally...)

I don't think the Tech Specs are going to be replaced with the Fleer cards in the sense you're talking about...

What I'm saying is, you'll have to buy a figure when it's first released to get the tech spec because they'll be replaced with Fleer cards when the next wave comes out.

So... For instance (ignoring Armada repaints):

Wave 1:

Hot Shot w/ tech spec

Inferno w/ tech spec

Starscream w/ tech spec

Wave 2:

Rodimus w/ tech spec

Snowcat w/ tech spec

Prowl w/ tech spec

Hot Shot w/ trading card

Inferno w/ trading card

Starscream w/ trading card

Wave 3:

Three new figures with tech specs.

Rodimus, Prowl and Snowcat with trading cards.

So if you snooze, you don't get the tech spec. If you buy a figure within the first month or two of its release, you get the tech spec.

I suppose it would be more accurate to say that I think (large) limited number of figures have the tech specs. Y'Know, the first 30,000 or 50,000 or something. Enough that you can get them. Probably the same or more will be made with the tech spec than with the trading card... But the tech spec will only be availible for a limited time. That kinda thing.

    • EDIT 2: Okay, I think my real problem with this was the marketing image. The main image shows four robot turtles standing together, so I was ready for four toys, not one. Admittedly, I was so disappointed that I did not bother to read the article fully. That's my fault. I apologize. That said, now that I understand it is THE van that turns into a robot, not "robot versions of the four turtles," that makes more sense, but I don't get the four heads. There are images here of a bandana free head which I gather is not included. I would actually prefer a non-specific generic turtle head for the robot. I think that would remove a lot of confusion. At least for me. EDIT 1: My bad, I misunderstood. It's one toy with swappable heads. So, you made a thing based on a four member team, and you only want to sell one toy? You're not even trying to get people to "Collect all FOUR!" You do understand how toy sales work, right? Original Comment: This is a perfectly fine idea executed TERRIBLY. You made four unique toys, each specific to each of the Ninja Turtles, that all turn into the same vehicle? It would be one thing if they joined together to form the van. There have been transformer sets like that before. This is just wasted opportunity. Not to mention, that van exists for the turtles to ride in together as a team, so if they can turn into vehicles ... what do they need a van for? I get that that's their van, and that's cute and all, but ... this is just dumb and disappointing. Why not think about what kind of car each of them would drive based on their personalities, or ask some car company if they want to do a tie-in promotional? What do I want with four copies of the same van and no one to ride in any of them? It makes no sense.
