Review: Universe Hound Figure

The shoulder missile issue is the only problem I have with the set. They look awesome otherwise.

I saw Hound in the store, I couldn't love him.

Henkei Hound all the way. Probably the nicest mold to come out of the Classics 2.0 line.

Is the shoulder position for the gun even mentionned for Universe Hound in the instructions? It's not for the Henkei version.

While not in the manual, the holo-projector was most definitely designed to clip onto the shoulder. On both sides of the projector, you'll see a small indentation on the bottom side above the clip. This fits perfectly with the contour of the top of Hound's hood. Unfortunately, the hood is no where near thick enough to allow the projector to clip securely. Great design. Poor execution.

I have the Henkei version and he is wonderful. The extra detailing really make him better than the Hasbro offering. However, DON"T BUY HENKEI (or classics for that matter) Cheetor. He's rubbish. He looks like he should be renamed "Animated Cheetor". His arms are too short, his beast kibble don't allow his bot arms to position well for poses (if you remove his beast arm kibble and TF him to beast mode you can see how they could have made his robo arms double as cheetah legs too, with little or no kibble) and his shiny Henkei noggin' looks out of place on his lacklustre matte paintjob. At least the "Classics" version has a head in the same colours.

 

Mind you, if you want him to go with your Animated BW figs, then he will fit right in.

I love this figure. Gave him the guns from the optimus, megatron set and now he's ready for war. By the way, the head on mine just needed the screw tightened and now it sits perfectly.

Got Henkei Cheetas, he's a million times better than the crappy underpainted Universe version. The chrome rocks on that one.

Hound is good. It's weird to me that the original ravage toy's more pose-able than this redesign, though. The immobile front legs are disappointing.
