Buy in advance or wait and save tons of money?

It depends on what the figure is for me.

 

If it's something I've been highly anticipating or looking forward to, I do the math involved in regards to distribution in my area vs. what the local retailers actually put on the shelves vs what they have in their back room.

 

My local Targets seemed to have stopped carrying the Animated deluxes altogether. And Wal-Mart and TRU usually don't see them for a few months after the initial release and even when they should be showing up, it's still rare. And then they'll start showing up when the next set of new stuff is supposed to show up (which can make it more problematic if they all come out at once).

 

So in the case of Samurai Prowl and Waspinator, I have them on pre-order at BBTS, unless HTS gets them in and available for pre-order soon.

 

The only things I ever w/o a doubt in my mind put on pre-order are the special figures like MPs and custom stuff like the Coronation set for MP Screamer or the City Commander Trailer for Classics Magnus.
