Color your fp Magnus armor

Rodimus VTS

Recommended Posts

No detailing/shadows, and haven't started the robot mode yet.

I wonder if someone will make Menasor using the FP shadow commander as the core.

Some one already did a Shattered Glass repaint, which was sold on ebay. So Menasor shouldn't be to far behind.

cool, but it could have been better.

For sure. They didn't even paint the inside panel of the leg. You can still see its blue.

Supposedly that was a pre finished pic it says that they did paint the panels they just didn't have pics of it yet.

Well since everybody's doing it, I guess you don't mind me taking a jab at it, do you Venk? :)

Couldn't be bothered to do the shading yet. Maybe tomorrow. =p

Nope, these line art renders are for anyone who wants to try out something. :) By the way, the Thunderclash color scheme is rocking. Love the lighting on the truck mode, and how it carries on in robot mode. :D

Optics, the Fire Convoy/RID paint job is rocking. A great job with the truck mode Rodimus VTS. :D

Also, Rodimus VTS, and any else not interested coloring in Photoshop. A quick tip for coloring line art. Open your line art in Photoshop, then duplicate the layer. On the duplicate layer, set the blend mode to Multiply(the blend mode is a drop down menu, located right under tab name for Layers, and is set to Normal by default). Leave this layer as the top layer(give it a name, like Line Art). Now create a new layer, and move it below the top Line Art layer. Name the empty layer "Color" or something. Now start painting away on this new layer. You'll soon notice the black lines and color look smooth next to each other, and there isn't any grey artifacts between them. :)

There is actually a better option than using a Multiply layer. First, you make your background layer a standard layer, then select all and copy. Next you add a layer mask and Option (Alt) select it so that you're actually seeing and working on the mask, not the layer itself. Then you paste the line art on the mask and invert the colors so that the black lines become white and the white background becomes black (The black in the layer mask will reveal whatever is on the layer under the masked layer). Once that's done, select the actual layer and fill it with black. This will make a transparent layer with black lines. The other advantage is that you can change the color of some lines without affecting the colors beneath it or having them show through the line-work.
