Alternators VTEC (Still in Progress)

Alright...so I have two Alternator Prowls here.  One to keep, one to kitbash.

(The next one I find goes to plowking...still lookin' man!)

My idea basically is to turn Alternator Prowl into a stock milano red Acura RSX Type-S...which is the car that I own.  I already know that he is going to look very similar to G1 Sideswipe...in the way he transforms, the color, and the head I have chosen (Alt Sideswipe)

Here's a pic of my car right now...

So, I have begun the disassembly of Alternator Prowl...and I've hit a few snags.

Just so everyone knows...Alternators Prowl is really molded in black plastic and then painted over in white to give it the cop car look...so those of you who wanted to make an Armada Wheeljack will have a pretty easy time...its just a matter of removing the white paint.

For that, I used Brass-O, which is what I've used in the past on Alternators Wheeljack and Smokescreen to remove the stripes/decals.

I removed the paint on the hood/front bumper/doors.  I have not removed the paint on the roof because it is molded from clear plastic.

I'm going to be posting a lot of in-progress pics as I think a lot of people will evenually want to kitbash one once they find one.  Here's a pic of the disassembled pieces...with paint removed:

Now, during disassembly is where I ran into problems I've never run into with other Alternators.  Prowl seems to be more difficult...

Everything comes apart real nice except for the main body/chest.

It seems that to remove the front bumper/front fenders, there are two pins...which I can't seem to remove.  I guess I could use a real thin flathead screwdriver and try and twist the pin out.  (I've already tried the soldering iron method...)

And, the steering wheel can't be removed...it seems to be made of some cheap rubber material, and I can either rip it off, and forget about my car having a steering wheel...or its gonna be one hell of a masking job.

(BURN person who decided to change the interior to baby blue!!!)

Awesome! I love it. You even have the later model RSX so the headlights match. Are you going to create a sunroof? The top is clear plastic is painted over correct? Could fill the holes in with model putty and paint over.

Best of luck. I'll be tuning in to see how it turns out.  :thumb

Nice ride Squall.

I wonder are they trying to make Alts more difficult to take apart? You know, trying to challenge the Customizers/Kitbashers in our qwest to create the perfect bot.

Anyway, keep up with the good work, if its anything like your last ones, it'll be sweet. Like the name VTEC also.  :thumb
