I've been planning on converting from an HDTV to a HD Projector. I haven't really looked into brands and stuff and I was thinking of passing on a projection screen because I was just planning on projecting it to my bedroom wall or any wall in the house for that matter. I know its not going to be better than having a screen, but how much worse can it be? Also, is there any type of image burning that can happen?

To get the full enjoyment of 1080P HD out of a projector, you'd need a sizable wall. Once you have the wall/screen thing ironed out, the picture quality will be no different than that of a LCD TV. Most projectors are run by LEDs nowadays anyway.

But, bulbs, lighting, etc...all has to be replaced in time, and it's expensive. You could easily spend the same amount for a bulb, as you would a small TV. ($175.00-425.00)

It's better to stick with the TV, really. My Dad and I considered doing this for our A/V system. When we saw how much, how difficult, and all things needed...just wasn't worth it.

you will need to paint the wall with screen paint, but it is sort of dooable

I decided that when I finally get all my credit cards paid off, I'm going to invest in a nice home theater set up with a DLP projector. Those seem to be the best.

My wife's classroom has and LCD projector, and it looks much better on a screen than on the plain wall.
