Full Version: Silverbolt can't dance.

So I caved in and picked up Silverbolt a few hours ago. I wasn't going to bother with him considering the way his entire chassis hangs below the very aerodynamic plane mode, but after some looking at him online and reading some reviews and making a decision to do some after market mods, he's now found a new hanger to park in.

Now the fun part.

I get him out of his package and check him out, x-form him a couple of times to get the feel of him and then commence to work on him. I've decided the gold has to go, with all the silver, gray moldings, red limbs and maroon body, gold was crossing that line in the "one too many" colors dept. I decided to do some simple mod work and use a silver based sharpie to "tint" all the gold finish on him and so far not too bad, I'm hoping I can smooth the lines out later. If that fails, I'll break him down and do a lot of tape and airbrush work to correct.

So I'm about 90% done with his right leg and am checking out the work so far and I notice something..he has two left feet. Yes, TWO left feet. I would take him back but with the mod'ing already underway, well you get the point. I was annoyed by this but in all honesty, he stands fine and you can't tell if your not looking for it so I'll bite the bullet on this one. So I guess I got bit by the QC beast on this one, not the first time, not the worst time either.

Have a look at the feet and the work so far.

I'm open to suggestions as well!

Look the color "correction" you're doing here. While the default paint apps are more gaudy G1-esque, I think your updates are definitely in order for the Classics 2.0 treatment.

As for the left feet thing, as has been mentioned, that's the least of this toy's problems. Anyone with me that this should've gotten Delux'd and Galvy made the Ultra??

Heh, guess I missed the left foot issue from earlier. I did do some caparison to the G-1 before purchase and color mod and felt he could benefit from this, tho the idea of just getting a G-1 vers. instead was starting to look attractive too.

I do agree with you on the change tho, they should have been put in the opposite categories. Size definitely would make a difference with these two. thumbsup1.gif

Silverbolt already got Delux'd in the Energon line. They could've just redecoed Storm Jet and made a couple of new limb molds for a proper Superion.

I definitely agree that Galvatron sould have been better as a Voyager or Ultra, but I love Silverbolt the way he is. He's one of my favorite Classics now. Yes, he has a simple transformation that would have easily fit a deluxe toy, but I like how he's big and solid. Both his modes look really good IMO, though I admit the best part of the alt mode could be removed from his back. And I like the transformation sound gimmick.
My only problem with him is his heels. They don't come out far enough and don't stay in place.

Maybe Hasbro will read the multiple posts about Galvy and redo him in a year or two to a proper size and alt mode.

Yeah, I really enjoy his simple transformation a lot(as well as his size). This one, out of the several new ones I have picked over the past few months really just appeals to me, probably due to all the new ones having some complex transformation. I am most likely going to have to work on his hip and knee joints, they seem a tiny bit loose for my taste.

I finished the color change and it looks really good, but still needs a little work. Going to have to pic up some black paint and a fine sable hair to do some touch ups here and there.
