I'm glad "Heroes" is back...now I've got something to complain about on Tuesdays again.

The writers, apparently, have learned nothing. skeletor.png

I am amazed at the hype that Heros has...it's ok but it is deffinatly not great!

I loved the first season until I realized that the only people who have abilities were those born from a member of the special family. It play on a high elitist concept...therefore taking away hope. And boy is hope ever a problem with this story. Any possible change they come up with to save the future makes the future even more of a mess.

Season 2 was really a downer. First off it seemed that characters that were plainly in contact with one another in season 1 act like they didn't know each other in 2. I guess the idea that the audience will eventually see the heroes banding together like x-men is some kind of story gimick.

The heroes them selves are cool and that i can see what makes the show appealing but the interactions are boring, and there is nothing deep at all with them.

All Heroes really has is cornering the realistic (non costume) superhero concept...more like an X-Force than an X-men.

its starting hear next week I dunno season 1 was very cool (apart from that sh*ty end). Season 2 I was told was really bad so I skipped the start but then the 2nd part was ok

season 3 seems ok as an idea but I dunno I can see it going to s**t

I liked it. It kept up my "Is it next Monday, yet?" comment.

Though, there's a few character changes I'm not sure I'm too fond of, but I'll have to see how they play out in coming week to see if they're as grating as I'd think they be.

Namely... Nathan's new found spirtuality, Claire becoming really emo, and milk addicted, horndog Spider-Mohinder

Oh yeah, the chocolate milk thing was weird. I wonder if they'll touch on that in the future or just sweep it under the rug, eclipse-style...

I liked the two hour season premiere. I did not like the one hour "Oh, we're so great" premier event that aired before it.

Heroes is actually one of the few dramas I watch on television (BSG and ER are the others, although I only watch ER out of habit, and I also watch Lost, but only on DVD). I think of it as a sort of "X-Men IRL" kind of story.

My only slytf.gif about last night's episode is that they've built Sylar up to be the Big Bad, and last night he got captured (which was a cool scene, IMO) and some supposedly BIGGER Big Bads got out. But Sylar's been going around the country stealing people's powers, (and now he's got Claire's eektf.gif), so he's got Real Ultimate Power, and the guys that got out last seemed like normal "mutants" with bad attitudes. But, that was just the first episode, so...

But holy crap did Hayden Panettiere look hot during that premiere show...

When does Hayden P NOT look hot?

That episode where she got blowed up and was all crispy, she was still hot.

I wish they'd stop trying to shove Ali Landry down our throats (ahem) as the hot one on the show. Claire's totally got her beat. Oh, and please to be killing any and all characters Ali Landry plays. Thanks.

I agree about the Premier Party. It was mostly dull, with an exception of the behind the scenes and Star Trek trivia stuff. (I would of loved to seen outtakes.)

I just thought of my two favorite scenes in the premier.

Hiro & Ando's bit after watching the Kaito's DVD, and the "Press Play" on the envelope.

My other favorite scene(s) was with Parkman, in Africa. He was looking at the "talking" turtle, and was like "Great. I'm going insane." then a few minutes later after getting the water out of the plant. "Thank you, Mr. Turtle!" then the other guy comes up and goes "Why do you thank the turtle?"

The following scene while they're walking along cracked me up too. Parkman was wanting to borrow the guy's cellphone, and he responds "No Service out here, I should of gone with Sprint."

I love Heroes, but jesus christ this whole episode was almost completely made up of old issues of X-men. We've got a bleak future that can't be fixed. We've got a cadre of villians with a magnetic, a pyrokinetic, a soundwave manipulator and various others. We got an icy blonde in a corset panties and a robe. Then! Then there's Mohinder pulling a complete Jeff Goldblum's Fly. (down to the coreography) I like it, but the show has hit a new low in derivative.

I didn't even know it was on last night, I found out through random talks on Twitter. I downloaded the eps right after. Anyways, all I can say is..... Another season that has to do with stopping an event in the future!? First one was the nuke thing, the 2nd was the virus thing, and this one is, what? the villains? I liked how they had Future Peter shoot Nathan, I kind of thought it was the mom. Now I'm curious as to who she was talking to on the phone right after that happened. The Claire/train scene looked sooooooooooo fake, I mean c'mon, they could've done way better than that. Future Peter putting Present Peter in another person's body... WTF!? Some parts made me feel like I was watching DBZ, like when Trunks came from the future and saying how stuff was off. Well at least I have something to look forward to on Monday Nights again.

Holy crap! I totally missed the Emma Frost thing!

My thing about "superhuman" abilities is that there's only so many you can give people (telekinesis, teleportation, clairvoyance, pyrokinesis, etc.) before there's eventually some overlap. And when you're dealing with a large group of "mutants" or "Metahumans" or "posthumans" or whatever, there's invariably going to be some "Hey, that's just a Nightcrawler/Pyro/Quicksilver rip-off!" claims.

Better storytelling ability is a power I'd give the writers.

WTF is with all the government black outs? If you don't want it spoiled don't read (simple really).

.....

I was shocked by Sylar, Pete and Nate having the same mom. The butterfly effect I think is going to play an interesting story (Sylar & Claire). I have a sneaky feeling that either Pete or Hiro is going to go back in time and stop Sylar from getting Claires power.

If they're going to bring back Linderman are they gonna bring back Nikki/Jessicas husband?

I agree with Mohinder and "The Fly" reference.

In the Preview event when they showed Angela Petrelli giving that other woman to Sylar...argh I wanted to see more.

Other than that I'm happy its back.

1) There is no spoiler warning in the thread title.
2) I use a "1 week" rule of thumb to avoid spoiling the story for those who may have TIVO'D or VCR'D it last night and have not had time to watch it yet.

it's more than that. the level 5 guys are very obviously suposed to be the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, all they need is Mystique and Toad.
Cool Hand Lube
Well, it IS Jeph Loeb here, guys. Try not to forget that, he's been writing comics for 25 years so he's bound to re-use/adapt existing stories for a greater audience. We all may know what The Hellfire Club, or Brotherhood Of Evil Mutants are and what their powers are, but MOST of the show's intended audience (i.e. people UNFAMILIAR with comics) has no clue.

I thought it rocked. Then again, I try not to pick apart all the things I enjoy in life.

I actually liked it BTW.

Whatever happened to that old (official?) Heroes thread? I can't seem to find it.

i watched the 1st episode then switched over for the Boston Legal premiere. i missed most of season 2 heroes so it's not a huge priority for me. but monday nights are always a battle to deside what to watch. at 8 there's terminator or big bang then it boston legal or heroes...

Jeph Loeb is hardly the only writer attached to this series.

Mohinder indeed is past his point of interest, or even usefulness. It would be interesting to have him as a scientific P.O.V. character, exploring that angle of meta-human development, however, for that to work he would need to be attached to the Company, thus being in the middle of things. However, as it is, his storyarch feels disconnected to the intertwining storythreads of the other characters. And, yes, as soon as Mohinder went 'power-crazy' I felt him Brundlefly-ing. I suspect he will turn villian in his attempts to undo his condition.

But, beyond the few oddities and what not, I must say that I actually enjoyed these two episodes, and that I'm looking forward to the rest of the season. At least the writers have, in my opinion, succeeded in capturing a bit of the speed, energy and dynamic that was lost during the second story-arch. And, it's not as if I'm expecting Shakespeare here.
Taaron
Well, tonight's Heroes was a bit of a surprise. It was a good episode, but didn't quite have that "Is it next Monday, yet?" feeling like I normally get. The episode had a bit of a closure that didn't really leave you on the edge of the seat like other episodes did.

Anyhow, I got a kick out Daphene calling Hiro Pikachu. optimuslaugh2.gif

1) I think "The Speedster" is teh hawt.

2) Noah Bennet's last line was awesome "I'm going to find his weak spot...and then I'm going to kill him."

3) I don't understand why they said "If Sylar was on Level 2, just imagine who's on Level 5..." The four guys they've shown so far were just "regular" mutants who happened to be sociopaths, not uber-mutants like Sylar. They didn't seem all that "ooooooh scary." What's worse, three of them had powers that were just rehashes from previous characters (pyrokinesis, telekinesis, super-strength). I was thinking the really, really, Level 5-brand mutants would be like Maya or worse.

4) When Claire and her mom were in the shipping container and they were all sweaty, for just a split second there, I thought they were going to start lezzing out. That would have been awesome.
Taaron
True about the Level 5 escapees...though they did say there's 12 of them that escaped...We've only seen..maybe four or five? Maybe they're the tamest of the bunch?
Stormtrooper53
Bennet did say that a dozen got out.

I can't remember who (future Peter maybe?), but there was a reference made that someone was "in this timeline" making a formula that could give normal people powers. Which leads me to think that the formula Daphne and Pikachu are after is actually Mohinder's.

Also, it could be that Sylar was level 2 so that he could be "allowed" to escape. Not a far out idea given that Mrs. Petrelli is completely insane.
Father Time
Insane? Or having an agenda of her own?
Cool Hand Lube
I don't think she's insane at all. I just think she knows a hell of a lot more than anyone else.

Plus her psychic future dreams help.
Stormtrooper53
I predict that by the end of it all, she will be the mom that everyone loves.

Because they like to make the good guys into bad guys and vice-a versa on this show.
Kurosaki Ichigo
I never thought of it from that angle. Her agenda seems to be so shady that it just makes her appear to ooze evil. That and how cold hearted as she is portrayed.
Optics
I wonder if there are 2 Lindermans, maybe cuz of that guy who created 2 Nikkis, but he does seem younger than Linderman. Didn't "nemesis" say she was working for someone who liked collecting things. Yay for no Mohinder this week. How was Jesse supposedly the worst one of the bunch? Soundwaves? Thats a shotty power, although I can picture him in the middle of Times Square yelling at everything. I think Angela Petrelli will stay alive until Sylar finds out she has powers. Although it is somewhat similar to his painting future powers, so he might spare her.

I was at a Museum yesterday, California Academy of Sciences. There was this wall where you can leave messages about your ideas of making the world better. I wrote this "Stop Human Reproduction" (eh) and this, which I think applies...

I think she's just pragmatic. Imagine if everytime you went to bed you saw apocalyptic visions of the future; after a while you'd stop caring about people's feelings and just try to sort it out the best that you could.

I can't help but feel that Mohinder will be the ultimate problem that needs to be stopped, with possibly a cliched Sylar redeeming himself and risking his life to save the world-style ending.

I don't get why Bennet is bothering with the whole "I'll find his weakness" thing with Sylar. I'd be more inclined to go "Hey, I used to hang around with a guy who can negate all powers, so he and I'll go put seventeen bullets in Sylar's head and then burn his body to ash! Then we can get cheeseburgers!".

Because that would make sense. You know, unlike making Sylar his partner for whatever reason, and that Sylar didn't just run away, and that---God, this show pisses me off.

Every time I watch an episode of Heroes, I get the feeling that so much trouble would be avoided if these people just bloody spoke to each other now and again.

Come on. Just once!
