LONDON - A Pink Floyd spokesman says founding member Richard Wright has died. He was 65. Wright died Monday after a battle with cancer at his home in Britain. His family did not want to give more details about his death. The spokesman is Doug Wright, who is not related to the artist.
Richard Wright met Pink Floyd members Roger Waters and Nick Mason at college and joined their early band Sigma 6. Sigma 6 eventually became Pink Floyd and Wright wrote and sang some of the band's key songs. He wrote "The Great Gig In The Sky" and "Us And Them" from Pink Floyd's 1973 "The Dark Side Of The Moon."
He left the group in the early 1980s to form his own band but rejoined Pink Floyd for their 1987 album "A Momentary Lapse of Reason."

He just toured with David Gilmour in support of Gilmour's latest solo album. Strange the family is being tight lipped about the cancer though.

...which I'm sure had nothing to do with the fact that Roger Waters made him quit the during the recording of said album. (David Gilmour hates it, too, but that doesn't change the fact that its an awesome album.)
Wright was actually the only person that made any money off
The Wall tour because he was hired back on to perform, but shared none of the financial burden of putting on the shows that the Waters, Gilmour, and Mason did.

So yeah, Richard Wright was a total cokehead in the 70's and Waters was like "you're not pulling your weight" and basically kicked him out. And Wright felt that he was being shoved out and that Waters was just taking control of the band. Wright went to see a Waters show recently, having mentioned that his therapist thought it would be a good thing to do.
Good times... so anyway, I like the music

I like how bands kick people out for being drug users and stuff. Because I'm sure David Gilmour and Roger Waters NEVER touched drugs and showed up late for a recording session or concert.
I always laugh to the fact that the band nicknamed "Alcoholica" kicked out a person (Dave Mustaine) because his "drinking was out of hand."

They certainly had no fear of taking what Mustaine had written.
But anyway, this is supposed to be about Rick Wright passing away, not douchebags being douchebaggish to other douchebags.
