Commuter rail operator Metrolink accepted responsibility for the massive train wreck in Chatsworth, a suburb of Los Angeles, which killed 25 and injured over 135 Friday evening. Before the NTSB could begin their investigation, Metrolink confirmed that their computer data showed their train disobeying a red light and merging into a line being shared by an oncoming Union Pacific freight train.
New information being released now shows critical data being missing from the audio recorders used to track engineer conversation to the conductor. Reports are also coming in that 2 teenagers may have been engaging in text messaging with the engineer prior to the wreck. The teens reportedly made friends with the engineer and would regulary talk with him via text. Authorities and investigators are looking for the engineer's cel phone, as well as the 2 teenagers.
