How many DVDs in total for the complete season 1 - 3? And where's the best place to buy it online? Shrug.gif
DarkNarcoleptic
I have a renewed interest in watching all of BW, and would like to know this as well.

And ebay is the obvious answer
Lord Madhammer
season 1: 4 DVDs, 26 episodes
season 2: 2 DVDs, 13 episodes
season 3: 2 DVDs, 13 episodes
ReverendNash
As for region 1 US copies, I think there were 3 boxsets.

Season 2

Season 3
DarkNarcoleptic
Yeah, I've seen Seasons 2 & 3 on Deep Discount.
Lord Madhammer
honestly they're the best ones... season 1 is a lot of "hmm let's figure out what this show is about" and it's pretty unfocused. JMO of course

There are still a few gems in there.

My bigger complaint with BW is I don't think the Vok storyline went where they originally intended, I think they were setting up for something more intersting but got sidetracked with the whole "Hey, we're now a sequel to G1"-angle.
Stormtrooper53
Nah, the Vok story line accomplished its goal.

Making me buy new versions of Rattrap, Cheetor, Megatron, and Tarantulas.

I agree, I wish the Vok story had been carried forward more, but at the time the G1 tie-in stroked my fanbone like it was a 15-year old Thai hooker I just gave a $5 bill to.

Yeah, I would agree with that. The Vok storyline is what got me interested in BW as I was first watching it. But then it was all about the Ark and the (other) Golden Disc and the Vok got reduced to some ghey Airrazor/Tigatron thing.

I was going to say that actually, but I would like to see a number of the Season 1 episodes.

Say what you will about Season 1, but Dark Design was an awesome episode.

I agree with this. Season 1 was good for the first 2 episodes, Inferno's intro ep, Starscream's ghost and the final like 3 episode. Season 2 and Transmetals is what got me into collecting TF.

i've never seen beast wars, I hate animal TFs except for the dinobots and insecticons. Grimlock is awesome, but I hate the way the cartoon made him dumb. Is beast wars really that good?

Terrible Animation, even for the time.
Agent TMan
The story was the best part anyway. The G1 tie in was the icing for me. When Ravage showed up and transformed with the old TF sound, all the hairs on my body stood up. Seeing G1 Megatron's recording and then seeing Megs Blast Prime......I almost died waiting for season 3.

Noooooo. You gotta read between the lines with LM. He's saying, "There's always youtube if you gotta see the eps bad."

I can't believe that YouTube is that BW-free
The Diesel
I think I like Season 1 the best. There's just something about it that I like better than the other 2 seasons.
Darth Caine
Seriously, Tarantulas before Transmetal'ized looks like he got the biggest pair of manboobs in the universe. I was starting to enjoy this show during season 2 (hint: Transmetal awesomeji1.gif ). I even dunno about Starscream's cameo as ghost on BW.. Shrug.gif
Prime-Collector
SS on BW was great.

Most shows need a season to find their feet. BW as a whole is still the pinnacle of Transformers on screen story and character writing.
Lord Madhammer
I would have disagreed until Animated crashed in a pile of sarcasticpelicanlb2.gif in the season finale.

And because of Beast Machines, but I recognize that that isn't really a "Transformers" story.

I have to honestly say season 1 was by far the best.

Animal alt modes were brilliant and seemed to be more of a necessity than anything.

I personally didn't care where the season was/story was going. It was for most part intellegently scripted, and funny as hell with some really memorable characters throughout.

Seasons two and three were alright but the transmetal upgrades did absolutely nothing for me. The character evolovement was good but the story just deminished into epic fail and one big G1 fanwank that tried to be clever with it's time/continuity merging but ultimately failed.

I know this direction into the earliar "mythos" renewed a lot of interest in Transformers but I think the series would have been much stronger had it remained it's own continuity/idea.

That's just my idiotic opinion but FWIW I'm thinking of grabbing all three sets through Amazon later this year or the next.

Regarding animated I really think it's to early to jump on the fail bandwagon. For what animated was I thought both seasons were fairly consistant/entertaining. The season finale may not have made a lot of sense (especially for those who demand an explanation for everything that doesn't immediately make sense or can't suspend there disbelief just long enough to see how things turn out) but I have faith the writers know what they're doing. It's not like being Sari being a robot just came out of the blue, it's been hinted at all season long, and I'm sure it was doe for a reason.

Waits to see.

Agreed, I was hoping to see more of them myself, but now that they're done, I hope they stay that way. The Vok where pretty cool plotters and schemers with some real intresting potential. Of course when taken out of the show, they had to try and find a back story and I'm sorry but why not make them something new, I never liked the whole evolved Swam deal. But thats what happens when they start letting to many different TF producers start getting involved, they mess it up.

Even with some of the Beast Wars staff getting involved with Animated, I hope they leave The Vok alone cause I could just see the rehash being the same as what they did to the Quintessons with Alpha-Q. Whats worse is that with something like Animated, they'd be all cutsie instead of cool robot ghost skulls.

But yeah, there are 3 Beast Wars DVDs, one for each season, and both seasons of Beast Machines are in one box, and trust me, after you sit through the war, you'll wanna see the fall out. Watch it all in one shot, and it's a very well told story.
