Not that I'm in a rush to defend lucas or anything... but complaining about the Prequel's having decent choreography is lame.
Oh that's not what I'm complaining about. It's just the endless retconning of intent that Lucas loves to engage in. His first idea was to make Dooku a female, which would have ruled IMO.

It reeks of lameness because IMHO Yoda should be so friggin 1337 with the Force that he's beyond lightsabers. Him and Palpatine both. That was certainly the impression that I got from the original movies. Like Yoda is this little swamp muppet and you're thinking "oh he's ghey" and then he levitates a spaceship out of a swamp. You mean those scenes make sense? That relationship plays like a badly thought out high school drama. Even in RotS when it gets really emotional. It all seemed like Anakin had knocked up Padme in the back of his car spaceship and they were worried that dad Yoda was going to find out.
What do you mean "seemed"? That WAS the plot! Remember the whole poster campaign of "A Jedi has not hate, greed or.... DUN DUN DUN - LOVE"
Ah yes. I remember those. They actually let me down before I even saw the movie. The Anakin/Padme scenes blew chunks in AotC and I was worried that more of the same would dominate RotS. Luckily it didn't, but the scenes we did see with them still sucked. The hole thing seemed like it was pulled from The OC/One Tree Hill/whatever trendy teen soap opera is current on.
The forbidden love/fallen Jedi plot has promise but they blew it.
And how stupid are the people of Naboo for electing Jar Jar as a senator? The annoying waste of CGI gave Palpy his Hitler powers. Although the fact that Jar Jar is responsible for the rise of the evil Galactic Empire seems right.

Starwars....
Ho hum.
Just wanted to say I'm glad the prequels did me in years ago. Going into this as a fanboy with any of hope of it being good at all would have only resulted in emotional sadness, and empathy for once great legacy.
The Special Editions personally didn't irk me as much as the later dvd revisits after the prequals. I survived a little added CGI, Jedi rocks and whatever the hell else he did but that IMO is where he should have left it. To this day I don't own any of the movies on dvd and am perfectly content with my THX vhs tapes, and widescreen special editions.
Anything after that with the odd exception of the animated Clone Wars has been pretty much crap. (Oh and some of the sequel novel/comic adaptations by Darkhorse were pretty damn cool)
It's really too bad because I really did at one time have a lot of appreciation for the franchise.
Instead of weathering it I just ended up walking out of each prequel feeling more let down the last and now am to empathetic to care about the franchise one way or the other.
Wake me up when they decide to give Mara Jade a movie.
Transformers, and the like have long filled that void for me.
Hey, they're just movies. Get over yourself and quit over thinking them, right?
Most subtle internet throat punch ever.
That actually made my inner fanboy laugh a fair bit.
Did you even read the post?
I wasn't overthinking anything, just stating I had no problem with special edition releases and that everything since has been a waste of will spent dollars.
For you it may be different and I'm fine by that.
And IMO Nolan has already proven himself a better director of fanboy property's than Lucus ever will.
Which begs one to ask, how DO you f*ck up your own multimillion dollar franchise?

Actually it was 18 years between RotS and ANH according to Star Wars George. And there's no reason why Palpatine would have sucked after that time since he was all awesome as an old man (and we never saw him training anywhere). I think the idea of Palpatine and Yoda being way too awesome for lightsabers (which were the weapon of a Jedi Knight) >>>>>>>>>>>>>> the idea of everything ultimately being settled by swordies.

Okay, to get back on topic here...I actually just got back from seeing "Clone Wars" and...it was actually decent. Its not the awful mess some critics have made it out to be.
The Good:
The Clone Troopers themselves were awesome, and some of them got the business end of a laser blast far more graphically than I'd expected. I'm hoping the series has lots more of them, which I guess it kinda has to.
The battle scenes seemed far more kinetic than anything in any of the prequels, save the opening of RotS. They were dynamic, which was far more than I was expecting.
Anakin's padawan wasn't nearly as annoying as the early reviews made her out to be. She says dumb stuff, but the most annoying thing about her is knowing she's basically a Red Shirt.
The Bad:
The goddamn battle droids' sassy backtalk has been ratcheted up 1000%. Fuck them.
The character design for most of the faces is awful. But Padme has a sweet, sweet can.
Zero The Hutt...the less said, the better.
And there's alot of booooooooring plot advancement with long-winded walk and talks.
Anywho, overall I was somewhat pleasantly surprised that I didn't hate it, so there's that. However, I do think it would've been better to have this premiere on TV rather than at the movie theater. It was just too small-scale.

I was going to read thru all of the patter then I realized I just don't have the frakking time. Anyways...I'm one of those who loves the whole Star Wars thing. Now I will admit the new BSG has "owned" Star Wars and every other form of Sci Fi on tv or film but still non the less there are alot of things I love about the the huge galaxy far far away. As Lucas keeps putting out story after story I find my self paying more attention to the environment and the aliens and starships and less interest with the main characters, save for Obi Wan.
With the new clone wars out my expectations were set very low. In fact based on the trailer I was completely convinced that Lucas was crazy to think that this new story arc fits any where in the time line. So I went to the theater pretending that what I was going to watch on screen would be some CGI animated Sci Fi story that was not Star Wars.
Well I have to say, if you go in forgeting everything you know or think you know, you might actually find a well done story. In fact the writing and direction was far more superior than say AOTC! In a way Lucas is trying to play catch up. after seing this movie you will walk away with the feeling that Lucas should have mad this a real film, despence with the 5min cartoons and added another chapter thus off setting the chapter count again. It was a good story but it was a shame that it was too little too late. The only thing really wrong with the Clone Wars movie was just bad timing.

Also,
QUOTE
Fetal Hutts spent their first 50 years of existence in the pouch of their parents, and have no sentient minds at that stage. Upon emerging, the intellectual level of a young Hutt was around that of a ten-year-old Human. Newborn Hutts, also known as Huttlets, would stay close to their parents for decades, returning to their pouches when they were tired, lonely or scared. Other Hutts were sometimes known to kill them in fear of future competition. Young Hutts were not considered important or accountable for their actions until they were 130 years into their average life-span of well over a millennium—making Jabba's rise to power at the incredibly young age of 80 all the more impressive.
So Hutts are already little old men/women when they come out of their parental pouches.
