Beast Megatron
Aug 17 2008, 06:21 PM
I was watching my Beast Machines DVD set today, and I realized there were a number of good designs on the series that really should have seen toy incarnations. Optimal Megatron, Botanica, and Megatron's giant floating head fortress all should have been made toys. Especially the giant floating head, and I don't mean like the RiD Megahead toy, I mean a show accurate one that transforms in a massive spaceship.
With the new Universe line, fans are going to get to see many new figures based off of old characters that may never have seen toy forms before. So, my question to you is this- which characters from any generation of Transformers would you like to see finally given a toy form?

Botanica
The Head Ship you mentioned
A G1 Arcee
Those Alligator Sharkticons
The Ark
The Nemesis
Galvatrons ship
The Darkside
The Axelon
(all the ships should be playsets)
Autobot Spike
A season 1&2 G1 Cybertron
The traffic light and phone booth from Cybertron
More Junkions
A realistic gesalt city
Ultra armor for every White Prime Magnus out there
Weapons packs
A deluxe Dispensor
The Vok(they can make them with the alien battle stations)
That drone from Beast Machines
Megatrons command center from Beast Machines(I'm making something out of wire ties and tic tac boxes)
The G1 female autobots
Cassette drones
GIJoe ready voyagers through supremes
A Megatron that turns into a placement cannon
Click to view attachment see don't that just scream Megatron!!!
Thats a good start for this wish list

I would be all over an Autobot Spike and some official G1 Quints (Robot Heroes, even), and a Legends class Transforming Spike (and/or Daniel) in Movie Exosuits that turn into that little car mode.
I would strongly consider purchasing an Optimal Megatron retool of the Optimal Optimus mold.

I fear I may be too anti-Beast Machines...but the figure itself would just be too cool for school independent of the show.
And speaking of retools of that mold, I would totally buy it redone as Quickstrike's remote control suit from Beast Wars...provided it came with a Quickstrike figure to pilot it, of course.

Optimal Optimus is one of my favorite figures. If they did this they couldn't just change the face plate. They'd have to remove the beast mode and give it arms that can get blown off and reattach, and
Hey isn't that Titanium Optimal Optimus?

I would like to see:
G1 Arcee and a head master version with daniel as head master. Wasnt there plans for that to happen?
Also would like to see takaratomy or jizaitoys make a microman style figure of daniel with Spike's exosuit that can transform into car mode . It could even be just parts transformation. also have the blaster arm from the animated movie.

It was only after I went to find images of the show via a google search that images of the toys showed up

Conceptually, yes. But the Energon Starscream mould (I still love that figure) had a unique transformation scheme when it comes to the Seekers. IDW, by the looks of it anyway, used the F-22 and the traditional Seeker transformation scheme.
So essentially what I would like to see is the Classics Seeker transformation worked into a F-22. But I know that's not going to happen, and I'm ok with that

http://www.tfu.info/1994/Decepticon/Smokes...smokescreen.htmI hate to go uber-fanboy, but the Seekers (or Sky Raiders if you're Goki) specifically refer to Starscream, Thundercracker, Skywarp, Ramjet, Dirge, Thrust, and the various nameless henchbots who shared their same basic body type.
So basically not every jetforming Decepticon is a Seeker. Only those who are pointless/money grabbing repaints/retools

As for the Decepticon in question....
From the TF Wiki:
"There is a bizarrely long-running misconception that this mold was used to make Energon Starscream. However, this is absolutely not true, as while the transformation is nigh-identical, they are noticeably different in proportion. Plus, every single piece is a different sculpt between the two. The two toys share engineering, which is not uncommon, but they are definitely not the same mold. Retooling does not work that way! Good night!"

No worries, I just wasn't sure what you were getting at with the link to G2 Smokescreen, so I figured I would cover all the bases.
As for being a ripoff, well I wouldn't say that, 'cause TT/Hasbro can't really ripoff themselves

Lazy engineering though? Yeah. Definitely. F-22 G1 styled Seekers have potential to be cool. If they made figures based off of IDW's Seeker design I would never have a reason to be unhappy again.
But the Energon/Superlink version is still pretty cool. The Hasbro G1 repaint is the one to get. They replaced all of his clear plastic with solid greys and blues. I still want that version. All I have is the TT G1 repaint, witch is covered in transparent blue plastic. It's nice but meh.
