I like. Hopefully the six million Universe Wave 1 deluxes currently clogging shelves around here won't dissuade the powers that be from ordering enough of the next wave to ensure he isn't hard to find.

Grab some wave 1 deluxes up and some cans of Krylon fusion and start making some of your other favorite colors. Sunstreaker can become Wheeljack, Marlboor, Punch/ Counterpunch, as well as about 5- 10 other characters including Scamper from Metroplex. Prowl can become about 4-5 different bots with some imagination including Smokescreen, Jazz, Ricochet, and I'm sure there are a few I'm forgetting. Visit iaconcity.com for some repaint ideas. This will free up shelf space, and show the stores there is interest in the line, which will keep em coming. Of course Wave 2 only has 1 that is repaintable, and we all know who that is, and who he can be repainter into with a can of blue Krylon fusion, and some silver brush paint on his chest, and some taping off of the wing pin stripes brush some silver, then tape over half of it and brush some red. Then just apply some reprolabels Decepticon labels. Well that is my plan to keep the next wave coming.

I'm all for the homage to the Fairlady Z 432 with the black hood but did they really need to paint the whole front black? just seems odd to me even the original toy had a regular silver front

any ways its nice I'm sure I will pick it up and smoke screen when that happens (or maybe that's for 2009 botcon...)

its the same the front bumber is black and while I like how they blended it into the cars body shape just leaving it silver would look nicer also the black roof is not my cup of tea

You know, in this mold i like how the color change on henkei bet. the black and grey is not sharp as the Hasbro ver. But, it's not worth doubling the price... unless the paint app. is horrid again...

Okay that really is discouraging. I'm seriously thinking of flipping hasbro the bird and going the takara route on this one. I don't care if the paint aps are the same or if it costs more. I'm still thinking of doing it. [enter mini rant]I'm seriously getting pretty fed up with Hasbro lately. Star wars started it with the build a droid junk. I really honestly wish they would just release droid packs. I'm not going to shell out $10 just to get droid parts when for the most part I don't give a rats behind about the other figs included in the deal. Moving on to transformers I was excited about Prowl when I first heard about him. When I actually got him I wasn't so thrilled. The more I mull over it I progressively get pissed off even more. If we're going to be paying $10 and change for a fig you'd think they'd actually take the time to get paint right. It's not bloody rocket science. What really gets me is that 25th anniversary Prime. For what they probably will charge for that, they could have done so much better.[/end mini rant]

I doubt Streak will be improved cause there hasn't been enough time btwn Prowl hitting the shelves and Streak's release (and clearly it didn't get caught at QC)

I wonder if its a new paint? Or a new plastic?


BTW - build-a- did not start with SW. Marvel Legends has been building third stringers for a few years now

Hunter, The problem with tacky paitn is only new to this year. Both Animated Soundwave and Prowl Suffer from it. Also, I have seen Prowl at retail lately with different paint apps. I can tell because the initial waves of Prowl had a matte finich paint and these newer waves have Gloss white, better coverage and overall QC. I'm not one to buy another of this toy considering all the work I put into fixing my first one though.

I'm thinking it's the paint. This is the first year they've really tried to use mass quantities of flat and matte finish paints and these new paints act very much oil based paints. That and after repainting my Prowl I've had 0 issues of tackiness or deteriation and I made no changes to the plastics surface.

I couldn't believe how bland the new Prowl was when I finally saw him last night. I know he's white and there's only so much you can do, but it's the umpteenth itiration of the same character with the same colors in more or less the same alt mode. Silverstreak is at least visually dynamic and stuff.

i for one cant wait for wave 3.

You dont know how tempted I am to get one of those...
but i may just settle for the RobotHeroes (er -whatever the marvel versions are called) version.

But i admit my FingFangFoon fanboyness comes from one book and one image in particular.
