Um...isn't he supposed to have a "spiffier" packaging? Seems like I remember the packaging having flaps with info on Prime, and there seems to be no mention of the dvd containing the "More Than Meets The Eye" episodes. What a downer. Oh, and I expected the neutered stacks but it still get me every time.

25th anniversary and yet still a toy for small children. For shame Hasbro.
Also, what's with the elongated missiles? There are weapons in the G.I. Joe line that are just as long as the original missiles. If it's a matter of them being spring launched, then take out the springs. Non-launching missiles is better than missiles that are longer than they are supposed to be.

Thought Roller was supposed to be silver or gray for this release. This one's blue.. (not that I'd mind, but this seems incomplete somehow and questionable)..

The new issue of ToyFare has, to me, a depressing interview with Hasbro about this toy.
Here's why Roller is going to be blue: "Roller will be indigo blue to match Optimus' fists."

^ wtf Hasbro? The grey roller was one of the details I listed in my mental list of pros and cons. My wallet is proportionally growing happier and larger in comparison to my dwindling excitement over this figure. Basically the only two things this version has over what is in my collection is the voice box and a comic re-print. I really don't think this is gonna be the homerun that Hasbro may expect it to be. While the nostalgia stemming from last year's movie is still around alive and well, Hasbro still continues to pull the same 'ol card. How about something we haven't seen on shelves? Is it so hard to put a little thought into a release that you're touting for the 25th anniversary? Who cares if roller matches his fists or not? Is Prime's mommy color coordinating for him now? Please don't treat us as mindless bill folds. We know the real answer is that you don't want to spend the extra moolah to make it silver. Just like you don't want to use a softer plastic that is less likely to snap for the smoke stacks. I could handle soft stacks on this figure rather like the ones on ldr movie Prime. Just make the whole color scheme "anime" so it fits because I know the chrome won't stick to a softer plastic and would flake. I mean, the re-release colors of 20th Prime didn't look so bad. If I didn't have the first release I certainly would have bought the second. I also agree with Mike Prime, the missles don't have to launch as long as they look right. I honestly don't think that a lot of people will be buying this for play value, much less to give to their kid. I put my reissue Prime back in the box after I found that the roller wouldn't even launch. Something tells me that this might be the same. $75 is a lot to drop on a figure and I really don't think that this version justifies that amount. I'd rather save and buy a vintage or a Japanese re-issue if I'm considering dropping that amount.
I apologize for ranting, but I just had to get it off my chest. I'm done

for now.

The ToyFare interview does state that the launching mechanism for Roller will work.

I don't have a G1 Prime boxed, this was gonna be the one to fill that space in my collection. It just looks sad though. I'm just gonna save and go for New Years Prime as it's probably the best Prime reissue ever.

I wasn't really planning on getting this when it first came out anyway. Let's face it we're all just going to let them sit there, and we know they will like the second release of MP Prime did until they put them on clearance for $25. Then we'll snatch them up and Hasbro will be like hmm well I guess we over estimated this one.

I hope it goes down that much. For some reason I'm collecting alot of primes lately. I guess it would be an okay G1 prime reissue at the $25 price, but until the sale happens I r depressed with this toy.

Another one? As much as I like that mold, couldn't they think of something better to do for the 25th Anniversary.

what happened to the nice box at SDCC? this just looks depressing and cheap and the old one had the comic and DVD visible but now I guess they are just pack it behind the tray and ditched the dvd since thiers nothing about it on the front... my money is on this being the UK toy...

New Year's Prime has:
Blue tinted windows, for show accuracy.
A die-cast metal Matrix of Leadership that fits inside Prime's chest.
Both versions of Prime's rifle.
Action Master Optimus Prime.

He's definitely destined for the clearance aisle then.
